A very useful tutorial! Thanks really really much! I just have one itsy bitsy question: for shading, do you draw tiny lines, or do you do something else?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JavaLeen In reply to kittenmagic [2010-05-09 16:23:56 +0000 UTC]

Ah... never considered this... XD

Umm... I use soft strokes so that I can cover the area I want the shading to be... and always in the same direction... so they could count as tiny lines... sometimes I change the direction according to the area, but not so randomly... the only times I cross other lines in a different direction would be when I want to add an extra shadow... and some times I just follow the main line of the body and muscles with soft strokes while shading...

Then again, there are the times I draw for the sake of drawing and I don't really consider any quality rules...

But technically you should try keep the shading lines parallel and in the main direction the light is hitting from (if you really want the shading lines to show a bit, especially), because it's the light that makes the shadow, of course. ^^

Hope I didn't confused you even more XD

huh. A brush. interesting. though I'm never hard enough with my hand to actually smear anything . I'll have a few unused brushes laying around after I graduate though (right now tied up in ceramics waxing/glazing junk) so I'll have to give that a try.

Si pt design vestimentar se fac lectii... waaa... can u slip some info here too? I'm darn curious what they teach there.

Eu,in cele 2 saptamani cat m-am dus la curs,am fost introdusa,so to say,in ceea ce aveam sa facem.

Eram doar curioasa. XD

Multzam de informatii.

Aici te-as contrazice, imaginatia ta clar accepta si devine forate abundenta cand vine vorba de design-ul personajelor (just look at your last pieces, they're brilliant).

Cu cea mai mare placere

P.S: Ajungi,by any chance,sambata la Otaku?

you might have just used a kneaded eraser those erase and life the graphite off making it not stick and no flea things. Plus you could just put paper at the bottom of your wrist cause paper dosnt smudge paper. copy righted info to me lol

Anyway very good tut

JavaLeen In reply to RahulPlaha [2010-05-05 04:45:32 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I constantly forget to mention the paper thingy. >.<

Kneaded eraser??? (For some reason I'm thinking grandma's sweaters in eraser version...) what are those? O.O

Thank you! I will make a second one with the extra info you guys provided as soon as I get the chance and patience.

RahulPlaha In reply to JavaLeen [2010-05-05 04:49:35 +0000 UTC]

Kneaded erases are like sticky tack but grey o.o' lol. But they can erase anything and lift the graphite (pencil marks) and dont make a mess. but yea does remind me of grandmas home-made itchy sweaters -_-' but glad yo help

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

JavaLeen In reply to RahulPlaha [2010-05-05 05:48:15 +0000 UTC]

u mean those things that peel the paper away if pressed a bit more seriously? *still confused*

Wait... *checks google finally*

They look like modeling material! O.O This actually has more potential than just erasing stuff. *starts waving tail*

I haven't crossed my path with anything like this lately, but it surely seems I will soon betray my pen-erasers (ever since they say on wikipedia kneaded erasers are actually of little use on large areas.)

This info here is pure gold! I'll start pestering people to find places they sell things like this (<--- still has no guts to get a PayPal).

Thank youuuu!

I got some from Hanul cu Tei (was on my way ^^)... it's so sticky... and so fluffy... and it sticks to my fingers, did I mention that? And to the box I got it with...

And except for the fact it leaves no dirt and is modelable () I'm not so impressed on the technical part...

yet... it's modellable!

UUUU COOL imi place sa vad cum lucreaza lumea, e foarte educativ also, i use one of those old fashion shaving things as a brush to get rid of the erasure stuff. It's very cool. Si mi-am luat un electric erasure. It's just so nu lasa urme aproape deloc, si nici mizerie!

lots of blue people around, I see... Finally someone brings color to life!

No worry, I didn't think of the brush either... I used to shake the paper like crazy until it went clean. Occasionally I would use my sleeve to clean it up, and that would go interesting when i got home. XD

I just noticed in some other people's pics and tuts and thought it would be nice to share...

as said... it's a give-back-away. ^^

Oh...my bad, they do have a Victoria's Secret boutique in the clearing.
Isn't the tail just a little bit too short?
And about the tut, clear and to the point, useful tips... I need to get one of those eraser pens, used to have one but my dog ate it a long time ago.
Oh and nice tip with the brush, I just blow it all away until I go blue in the face.

L-am gasit intr-un magazin japonez de pe aici (japan-people are scary... always thinking more than others... simply luv! )

Si multumesc mult! Sper ca a fost de folos! :3
