Thanks for an effective way to pull off a 3d look. Do yo merge the flat and the shadows with a overlay?

Thanks, for awhile i had to chose a shadow color and that seems difficult making it look natural. thanks for the tip mate.

I absolutely love your work! Do you apply your shadows with a gradient tool, or just straight up brush??

dude, yes. i love me some purple shadows - always does wonders, especially for skin tones.
i really dig thor's hair... kinda gives it this cool viynl toy feel.
i gotta ask - what part of this process do spend most of your time on? which part's the least amount of fun for you?

the most time consuming part is the shadows, but its also the best part of the process
The worst part to me is inking and doing the flat colors, im so hating it
Thanks!

cool man - yeah, i think i'm in the same boat. doing inks, especially just straight up in photoshop (if i'm going for a thin line) just KILLLLZ me. there's no way to preserve ALL the energy from the sketch, and so lately i've been leaning towards a more loose feel to save stress and cut down on needless perfectionism - but then it never looks as polished/finished. whatevs. totally feel you on the flats too. :]
