I coughed and shouted in my whiny little voice. “Boxy, why did you knock down the ceiling?” He peeked down at me through the giant hole in the ceiling and laughed. “Come up here, Gwegory. Dere’s things up here we can play with!”

I nodded and grabbed his hand, letting him pull me up. Kneeling on the wooden floor, I gasped in amazement before coughing again. Cardboard boxes lined the attic walls and things spilled out onto the floor. Cardboard Friend pushed a pile down so I could reach everything, and we started looking at the pieces of paper and pictures surrounding us, Box Friend’s glowing eyes slicing through the musty dark.

“Box Friend, there’s pictures here. Look, this one looks like two of me!” He peered over, before harshly snatching the picture of me and a boy with black hair and a white polo shirt out of my dirty little fingers. “That’s not a very good picture, Gwegory. It’s got other people in. We can cut that person out with the scissors later, okay?” He sounded angry, so I nodded quickly. But I was wondering about the other boy.
