Maddie barely noticed as the walls of the room grew out and the fog cleared. Voices echoed of everyone's phrases, but nobody moved their lips. The dojo room melded into a plain white room with a white door and windows looking out onto an endless green field. Everybody stood in a group as more figures arrived. A cardboard box friend, a little boy with a red shirt and a boy with blue skin, pony ears and a unicorn horn. The new trio faced the old trio of Maxwell, Jimmy and Maddie. The little boy hugged Cardboard friend's leg, and the pony boy sighed and spoke up in his high, slightly girly voice. "Oh great. Now look where we are. Stuck with a bunch of loonies." Jimmy scoffed and pointed at him casually, "Look who's talking, Stardust." The Cardboard Friend looked at jimmy and kneeled down to the little boy, before whispering to him; "Go play with your big brother, Gwegory." Gregory let go of Cardboard friend and ran over to Jimmy, before clutching his leg and giggling. Jimmy softened slightly and ruffled his younger self's hair. "Welcome back, Gregory. And same to you, Cardboard friend." Maxwell went over to Box Friend and muttered something, before they both laughed and started hovering, being ghosts. Amii giggled and ran over, joining in with the fun. Maddie looked at Sue and the two military boys, before nodding at their impatient faces. Barely one second elapsed before the three boys ran out through the white door and ran in the fields playing tag. That left Maddie, Jimmy, Gregory and Stardust. The four went over to a corner and sat down. Jimmy whispered to Gregory, who passed it on to Stardust, and in less than a minute they were by the far wall, seeing who could laugh higher.

Maddie looked around at all the forgotten characters and personalities that were playing together like little children and she smiled. The first, true smile she had ever smiled since she met Billy. And for the first time in her life, she pulled off the I heart Billy shirt, revealing a minty green t-shirt underneath. She raised her arm high, the Billy shirt clutched in her fist, and she threw the shirt as hard as she could into the ground, before turning around and untying her hair, letting it cascade over her shoulders. She looked around again, and then ran outside, laughing and singing, pure joy filling her heart as she realised what she should have all along. And she sang something she never thought she woyld sing;
"I don't need Billy anymore,
Chasing him was a chore.

I don't need to be remembered.
Who would be there to forget?

I have my real friends now,
And that's all I need.

No more Venturian, Kyodi, Bethany or Homeless!
They only weighed me down.

Why make me to forget me?
What a waste of time.

But they made me for a reason.
To be with the others.

Misfits like me, like all of us.
Always fit together.

I don't need anyone,
But my friends!"

And at that space in time, that endless world of nothingness and everything, Maddie Friend felt happier than she ever had, as she played forever with her friends, forgotten and remembered. Lost and found. Sad and happy. In danger and... Saved.
