Cywren looked up at the face looming above her, silhouetted by the glow from the portal being him. All she could see through her crushed glasses was his eyes. They stared at her, accompanied by a disturbing grin. She was lying with her back against rocks, blood staining her face where she had been punched.
The boy stood to his full height and laughed. “Look at that! I found you first try. Now won’t Venturian be pleased?” The ginger looked to the madman’s hand and saw a blood-stained hoodie, just like what he had described. A red triangle with a yellow V. She was horrified. This… this man couldn’t have hurt her Venturian. He was mistaken, surely? Twins?

But Cywren couldn’t question it; her eyes were brimming with tears. She stared at the thing – she wasn’t even sure if he was human – and howled in agony at the loss of her friend. But…
Nope. For the boy had pulled out a pair of red goggles, just as crimson as the stains on her cheeks.

Cywren Caster yelled as a knife flew from nowhere, piercing her shoulder. Cutting through her windpipe. She only had a couple of hours.
And as Jimmy Casket retrieved his choice weapon, he grinned, blood on his tongue.
“Have fun, ginger.”

Cierra Frye sat in a fancy room, far away from civilisation. A blue glow came from the room behind her as a man with slick black hair handed her a cup of tea. He sighed, and looked at her purple shirt and dark jacket. “How on earth are we the same person?”

Cierra smiled weakly and shrugged. “You should be able to answer that, mister British.” Johnny just laughed. “I see where my terrible sense of humour comes from, at least.”

Immortal playfully punched him in the shoulder as a little girl with brown hair and a tutu walked in from the portal room. She took one look at Johnny and launched herself at him, laughing.

The older girl gasped quietly. “I didn’t know it brought up all my personalities…”

Sally Acachalla grinned and hugged Cierra. “What’s a personarity?”

Cierra giggled at this. “You’ll learn when you’re older, kid.”

Johnathan Adrian Toast banged his fist on the coffee table between them. “Quiet, you two. Now, onto the matter of how to find Casket, and more importantly, your brother.”
