Yes. There are so many good words to replace "Fat". Portly, porky, bloated, bulbous...

The idea is that you have the entire arc planned out ahead of time so that you don't need filler. Show me someone who would prefer filler rather than either following the story arc or committing to not having one, and I'll show you someone who doesn't exist.

well i don't think anyone likes fillers...but if arcs is sometimes preferable, do you think its alright to be short arcs instead of long ones?..

Short arcs are actually preferable, for a number of reasons. One, they're less work to plan, which may seem lazy but there are only so many hours in a day (24, except on days where you have to change the clocks for Daylight Savings Time). Second, if it turns out to be unpopular, it'll be over more quickly, allowing the writer to salvage more of their consumer base. Third, I can't actually think of another thing but the unicorn/Pegasus crossbreed in my head is telling me that there has to be one (she grew up in Sigil, where the Rule of Threes is a big deal)

Once upon a time, there was a young boy. Every day, he saw the girl he fancied. One day, he finally told her that he liked her. Because of that, she accepted, but didn't take the thing seriously. Because of that, the boy started to see their relationship differently. Until finally they decided to admit to themselves that they were just friends.

I'm an author so I'm going to shoot at number 1.
*deep breath*
Wild Tail is a series about an(1) Earth(2) mutated(3) by(4) war(5) and(6) abandoned(7) by(8) man(9), who(10) shall(11) one(12) day(13) return(14) from(15) the(16) stars(17) to(18) reclaim(19) it(20).
I didn't count the first five words because there's no way to start that statement without them in some regard, but I still went pretty far over.

How about "Earth changed radically since mankind abandoned it, and now it's time to come back." 14!!! woohooo!!

The war is actually kind of crucial, because it was supposedly rendered uninhabitable by our own hands.

Would've been understandable if you said "An abandoned earth by mankind who shall one day return to it from the stars." 5 words less and basically says the same. Of course, it doesn't sound as good. Either way, those 5 extra words won't break it.

Thanks.
The point is that it was mutated by mankind through war, and as a result the new sentient races, or the new humanity of the earth, inherited their relics once they achieved high enough cognition to understand them, and refer to them collectively as the Predecessors.
They tend to speak Predecessian, and their relics act as a kind of backbone to social structure and it's evolution in the world. With all the repercussions that lie therein.
