totaly agree.
when I first saw this I almost began to cry, so nice was it. I think I am going to use this as the background of my windows xp pc and the remake for my mac (or my win 7) because win xp also makes me cry...

gradient for the sky and photos of real clouds (edited ofcourse) for the clouds.

how do you get the clouds cut out so that parts are semi-transparent and they don't have edges that end abruptly?

I use the erase tool and Select > Color Range to make them smooth.
