According to the first season DVD collection, which features an uncut rough draft of this scene, the only probe that actually enters Fry is a cotton tipped one going in and out of his ear.
I wish they kept it in.

the whole text of the 1st episode is kinda cool, and some deleted stuff from there didn't even make it to the storyboard i think.
i don't remember that probe, but this one is more futuristic
