I made this to address a growing epidemic in our current society. One that saddens me ever so.
But seriously, stupid stupid people and their not knowing what Invader Zim is... *grumble grumble*

I showed my friend the show and she said she doesn't get why the merch is mostly Gir. She also said that Gir sounded like Elmo.

Actually, for me, its the other way around
I remember watching Invader ZIM reruns (cause I was a small child when it came out, I can't remember anything from the years 1-5)
and I had a shirt with G.I.R in his dog suit with a mustache on it
And I could never figure out who it was

I know what you mean. Not only does in it annoy me that most of the merchandise is Gir but that it's also not really Gir himself. Just his dog suit. Seriously? Why just his dog suit form, why not his robot form and why isn't there that many shirts of Zim?
Thankfully I do happen to have a backpack with Gir on this his hood down showing off his cute robot face. I also happen to have a hoodie that says World Domination and on it is just Zim holding a globe.

The show is called Invader Zim, and yet, they don't even know what Zim looks like or the plot of the whole show. What pains me more is the fact that these people say that they are "Huge fans of the show".

Just earlier today, I was thinking of how things with GIR on them are usually going to be him in his dog costume. It really think it's sad that most people who have seen him like this don't really know what Invader Zim really is. I see all types of GIR clothes, and barely anything for the other characters. Yes, he's cute and lovable, (he's my favorite character besides the tallests), but that's not what the show is really centered on. Invader Zim is really about Zim trying to take over the Earth and Dib trying to stop him. GIR is just there to give the show more comedy and to make it less dark. Besides, I like him in his robot form alot better than in his dog form.

Yes, I agree. Gir is cute, and he's good comic relief, but that's all that he is. Nothing deeper. You can't even hold a conversation with him because he'll just scream WAFFLES!!! at you. he's such a difficult character to work with in fanfiction too, In fact I've read at leas four fan fiction serieseses... that actually killed him off, some even in the beginning. And working with this character for so long, I'm considering killing him off too..

I only discovered IZ a month or so ago *is shot* and my ONLY exposure to it beforehand was HT's GIR merch.
And now such things fill me with sadness and despair.
At least HT and other vendors are expanding... like I just ordered a hoodie that actually had ZIM on it (imagine that...). We just have to make sure IZ as a whole remains in the forefront of this woefully I adequate world; IT SHALL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!
(... So says the one who found it a month ago...)

Yeah, I couldn't believe it at first. I felt compelled to make this one after I saw a girl on my campus wearing a GIR hoodie and when I said to her, "Sweet hoodie, Zim is awesome." she replied, "What's Zim?"
