Another old friend, The Astronomer! I could never quite figure out this one in terms of the context of BOTB #3....the subject matter for the entries in that issue, IIRC, were anthro-ized characters from a number of IRL movies and television shows, right? I've looked more than a few times since getting my own persistent DSL connection in 2001, and I've yet to find an origin for your work prior to this pic. It may be that Edd thought this was just plain ossum and decided to put it in. It's a favourite of mine, both in terms of published anthro work and of your own wory, Jay; I'd love to know more about his backstory if he has any in particular. ^_^ As always, thanks for sharing your work and expertise with us!

Actually, I finished that pic before I knew the issue's theme. I sent it in and Edd used it anyway, I'm happy to say. There's no backstory to the character, I think it was inspired by Galileo...

No prob; had a feeling of something distantly along those lines. Galileo or Da Vinci, was what he made me think of but Galileo seems more appropriate in particular dressing style (as well as the suffix '-Leo' as in 'lion' or 'cat'). For what it's worth, 'The Astronomer' was one of my favourite pics in BOTB #3 (the first one I got was BOTB #2 in a back issue bin a looong time beforehand, before I was even into Furry, much less posting any work online. I still get an unsettling feeling when I see Stan Sakai's 'Amazon' on the cover....man, for somebody who knows how _not_ to make his Usagi Yojimbo look constipated, he's awfully good at drawing the reverse! ^_^)
Either way, it's a swell pic that I'm very fond of, regardless of origin (or lack of it ^_^). Danke for sharing it with me once again!
