Description I dedicate this work to my one true love, Eleni .

I hope you enjoy this one - a sunny grassy planet in some obscure corner of the galaxy. It will probably be the last for a while unless a miracle happens and my Flash assignment gets done on time.

EDIT 21.05: Fixed one or two texturing oversights.

I like the texture of the planet. Did you made it from scratch or did you used some earth-like picture?

Thank you! It's made from scratch with a composite of rock texture photographs I took.

Hehe... that works for dA, but if you want to make prints you'll need high res photos (or be willing to do a lot of compositing!) because Photoshop's spherize filter does absolutely awful things to your textures around the edges. My original planets are all 8000x8000px so you can't see it at the final print size

Cool, tnx for the tip, but i won't be doing prints any time soon cuz i can't buy prints account. Spherize does that with whole texture i think. Too much distortion.

dude im loving it

only thing thats bugging me is the dark side of the moon (haha pink floyd)... but yeah, that part where you have that inner glow just doesnt seem right for some reason

jay88 In reply to DraxianDezigns [2007-05-21 14:26:06 +0000 UTC]

Hey thanks for the comment! I imagined that that glow on the dark side was the combined light of the green planet's reflection with the light of that bright distant star between them. Do you mean the glow shouldn't be there, or that it just looks wrong? Cos I've just spotted that faint 1px dark halo around the outside which didn't exist at actual size

The force is strong in you, little one. But this topic further study you must, if to make pretty pictures you wish.

(check out all the tutorials on dA and come back when they have nothing to teach you)

Start with "Alyn's guide to Advanced Planet Creation". His method is kinda strange but it will get you going in the right direction.
