These are some of the environment props I worked on for Firefall. There were a lot more but these are a few examples, we'd start with some sketches and pick out the ones that seemed to work with what else we had and move forward to the turnarounds, pretty standard fare.These were used with the standard white black and grey with orange lights motif of the Accord faction and meant to be placed into walls, though at times we would re-purpose and re-texture props to fit them in elsewhere if needed.

I just loved the chunky-techy designs in that game. they were so ... meaty. I'm still sad about it being shut down For Reals

The game never cohered the way it probly should have, but a lot of the art survives, and I'll still be posting more of it. :]

Well, the aesthetic for the tech pieces in the game were inspired by mech design ,so you aren't to far off!

of course they are, having tech that does not look completely schizo is a basic point in any game, in fact it is usually used to show the allegiance of certain building so that a given aesthetics id the same through an entire faction. But i was having brain farts at that moment 😅

Firefall was an interesting game - played it a bit back in... what was it, 2015, 2016?
it just took too long for it to give me my bike - running around was so damn slow. there was a reason that WoW dropped the lvl requirement for mounts

Yeah, had to do a lot of things in that style so we got used ot it after a while. There were already some ideas/rules to follow for the style and then we created some more of our own as we worked on them to help keep things feeling in style.

it's different on every project, usually really great when people can weork together well and listen. It takes a lot of cooperation and willingness to listen and adjust designs to work together versus everyone trying to be a rockstar and get their own personal way at sacrifice of what is best for the project I think the best way to say it is it can be both inspirational and rewarding but takes a proportional amount of effort.
