Description
This took me a long time, such as the render time, tweaking time, figuring out time........I hope that i could know how to correct some of the imperfection in this picture and improve on them in the future.
But this gave me a lot of interest and confidence in 3D.
This will not be the last of my HDRI images, so watch out for more!

Nice work ...
This is more photorealistic than most of the other 3d rendered scenes I have seen from SP ...

thanks a lot. This is pretty simple to do when you follow the tutorial.

......*blinks......takes the picture...* This is very realistic......kinda makes me wish I knew how to do 3D modeling myself.....*hangs head*

wow! That is so good, really like the reflections in the sphere.

Very nice piece; I love the way you can see the room, bent and distorted in the sphere. Great job!

I can only imagine what must go into this. I can open Bryce and plop a reflective sphere on a wooden table, and if I have the right other stuff out of sight, I'll get reflections like that. But I'm guessing you did all the reflections by hand. That must have been a whole lot of work. My hat is off to you.

You're welcome! Tell me if I guessed right about what it takes to make the scene.

Actually the reflections is not really that hard. The reflections of the surroundings is done using a technique called HDRI in 3d. It can reflect the surroundings of the HDRI image with anything but if you get the camera angle wrong, the reflections will go haywire and you will not get the desired reflection.

OK, I'll just have to take your word for how much work it was, because I don't know the first thing about producing the reflections. Anyway, I like the image.

Nothing you can't fix by cranking up the iterations eh?

the changes on the sphere are very minimal when i changed the smoothness to 200, thanks for the tip though.

ok now is the finale, my target for the +fav for this deviation is 10 so currently its at 9 so hope that it will reach my target as i initially planned.
BTW i would like to give a big THANK YOU to those who +fav this deviation. I really appreciate it!
And hope i can bring more fantastic deviations in the coming days.

This image looks SO realistic I am feeling 'touched' and tears would dcome to my eyes! if only I could texturise like this......

Jaychou In reply to Albedo1980 [2004-05-12 08:52:56 +0000 UTC]
haha no lah thats nothing, that's quite easy to learn when u follow the tutorial. The only difficult part of HDRI is the position of your camera/angle because once u position it wrongly, the texture will look very weird and awful.
Thanks for the compliment, appreciate it! i guess i am the one with tears when i receive such comments lol.
Thanks again man!

but converting a picture in hdr shop is different from those original HDRI images that ppl create because the original HDRI pictures give off light on its own and when we convert our pictures to HDRI format, it does not give off light doesnt it?

Although its just a simple sphere on a table or material, but its the texture that rulz them all. Don't you think so? I'm trying to learn it but its quite tedious when it comes to adjusting and tweak some perimeters. By the way, you can change the background pic from kitchen.hdr to your own pic to make it more unique. You can download HDRShop for free. HDRShop enables you to save picture in HDR format.

nice hdri.
i really like the tableΒ΄s material/tex !
post a wire please
i wonder how you made the enviroment around the sphere. is it a bigger sphere/dome with the hdri immage as tex ?
π: 0 β©: 1
Jaychou In reply to psychosilence [2004-05-06 12:08:18 +0000 UTC]
The environment is a result of the HDRI image reflections on the sphere so there is no real environment in it.
haha, how do i make a wireframe?i am using 3d max.
Thanks for the comments.

Haha, another amatuer mistake made by me so thats y the texture is weird, now i added the shadows and the textures is corrected. This is re-edited and re-posted for the Fourth time. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Well done Jay!!! I had tried this 2 months ago and I found it quite hard to change the reflected material image(kitchen). Maybe I will try to do re-learn it again if I have the time.
BTW, I think that you should give credits to the creator of this plug-in. I personally think that you have the room to improve your modeling or rather, texturing skills. So keep up the good work.

Try looking carefully at the top left or right hand side of the sphere. It is not very smooth there.
You can do it. Slowly move your eyes downwards from the curve of the sphere.

Jaychou In reply to ranvier [2004-05-06 00:33:19 +0000 UTC]
ok thanks ranvy, i think thats because of the HDRI lighting maybe so it will trick your eyes because a sphere WILL be completely round lol.
