i read your post on your blogspot about porfolio reviews and breaking into comics and man did it give me a whole new outlook on things. people need to see that information. i'm sitting here thinking about all the great comic book artist and every single one of their styles derive from previous other greats, alan davis=bryan hitch, bryan hitch=ivan reis, mike golden=art adams, marc silvestri=david finch joe quesada=mike mignola, john byrne=dale keown and the list goes on. it all makes sense man! anyway i'm working on my portfolio starting today. you really motivated me. THANKS.

Awesome man. When I was taught by Dave Finch, I told him I was concerned that my art looked too close to his and that people would think I'm a ripoff. He told me the smartest thing to do would be to run with it because looking like the most popular artists out there is how you become a success. Companies like Jim Lee clones because it sells more books than some super original looking artist that no one likes.
The trick is to then take those influences and turn it into your own thing. Finch was a Silvestri clone for 4 or 5 years until he started to become his own thing. Personally, having that Finch style has rocket boosted my career into overdrive within a very short time. It'll take time to change and become my own thing, but I got some good years ahead to accomplish that.
Keep up the good work and draw, draw, draw!!
