I drew this cartoon today as a birthday card for my cousin who's a big comic book fan (he got me into them when I was just a little kid). The idea is based off a cartoon I drew for my college paper about four years ago, very similar to this except for Superman punching through the wall.Related content

Yep, that's Lois. I'd considered labling her as such, but then I figured, any damsel in distress that Superman would swoop in and save who'd turn out to be a lesbian and spurn his efforts for Wonder Woman would probably rock his socks anyway!

Superman's face is hilarious here! He's got that school-jock/baby-face combo that's usually the exclusive territory of sympathetic henchmen.
Poor Supes! I doubt that even in the Sixties he would have gotten super transgender powers. On the other hand, I'm certain that there would have been some Fortress of Solitude gadget that did just that.

Oh is that Louis? Ya know, Batwoman would be a better reference than Wonder Woman since in her magazine "W", Diana recently said that she and her best friend aren't gay, they just have "A friendship that defies conventional western definitions".

*wipes sweat from brow* PHEW! Thank goodness. I never can tell with those contemporary pop-culture references. I think just about the most disspointing thing for me is when a finely crafted joke falls flat because it relies on knowledge of pop-culture. I guess that's why the Carlos Mencias of the world stick to racial stereotypes. BTW, your stuff is usually funny and in a way most people can enjoy, I think a little bit of my stuff works that way. Like the whole "GW is stupid, but well meaning" is something most people agree with so it works.

Man, I am a wealth of pop culture references, though most are hardly contemporary. Of course, that would depend on your definition of contemporary. I just dig pop culture! And I know what you mean: my stuff isn't always funny per se. Sometimes I'll just draw something for the joy of drawing it, regardless of a joke or situation. That probably throws some people off who tend to expect a quick shot of humor like with my comics. But hey, as long as you guys keep coming back, then I know I must be doing something right!

Yeah I've noticed you tend to be more knowledgable about the older stuff, but that's cool, same is true for Seth McFarlne (woah screwed up his name!) and he does just fine with that TV show of his. What's it called? American Guy? Family Dad? Well it's not too important I mean not that many people watch it right?
Old pop culture is important to a certain extent though, my daughter loves Kermit, Fonzie, Animal and the rest more than most of the stuff they have on TV these days. I'm betting she'll be the only one in her generation who knows vaudevillian jokes courtesy of Fonzie Bear.
