Every time I fantasize about Dinotopia, I always end up as Waterfall City's town nut; that Industrial Revolution-age dolphinback who just can't seem to let go of steam power.

Also, this is late, but most Dinotopians don't seem to like steam power. They consider it loud, dirty, and too inefficient to look past those first two points.
Of course, the sewing machine was welcomed with open arms, so I guess it's all a matter of practicality.

The trouble is he's not a particularly GOOD inventor; one of the kind where his inventions tend to blow up in his face. And just to add to it, he lives in an apartment atop the library; Nallab and Enit basically forbid him from taking his inventions out of his room for fear of him accidentally burning a scroll about some ancient lost city.
