Prowl had been dead for over 60 years, most of the team had moved past their grief, except Bumblebee, for him it had been much harder. It wasn't until Prowl offlined that Bee realised he had been in love with the mech, and the opportunity to say as such had died with him.

Now, Prowl had returned to life, the allspark had seemingly randomly spat his spark back out into one of the many protoforms awaiting a spark to give them life. And then Prowl was online, his body newly forged but a spark full of memories from a time over 60 years past. To him it seemed only yesterday he was on earth, completing his ninja training with Jazz, preparing for that final battle against the Decepticons. The allspark worked in mysterious ways, perhaps Prowl was needed alive again, or that Primus was rewarding the sacrifice he had made.. Bumblebee did not care about the why’s, he was just glad that Prowl was back.

While the team had tried their best to recap on the events on Cybertron since Prowl’s passing, the mech was still as curious as ever and wanted to have all the facts. Thus Bumblebee found himself volunteering to guide Prowl to the library, it was the first time in his life that he ever willingly went to one.

As Prowl read through a stack of datapads containing archived news articles, Bee perched on the desk beside him, in case the mech had any questions about an event in the past. He was unable to stop watching the mech, drinking in his presence, memorising him. Still reeling from the fact that barely a few days ago, this mech was considered long dead and gone, and he had been remembering his moments with Prowl before he offlined, with a painful and sad sort of fondness.

The pain still lingered, one cannot forget 60 years worth of sorrow and loneliness in a mere few days, and with it the quiet fear that Prowl might not be there tomorrow, so Bumblebee cherished this moment with Prowl like it might be his last. And maybe he was leaning too far into the dark mech’s personal space, and had the sudden urge to reach out and touch, just to confirm there was a real mech there, not a ghost, or a figment of his imagination. Bumblebee crawled onto the desk before him and with a shaking hand as his emotions overwhelmed him, reached out to caress Prowl’s face. Prowl froze and looked up at him, a curious tilt to his visor, but didn’t interrupt upon seeing the expression on Bee’s face, quietly understanding to some extent, Bumblebee’s need to touch.

The metal of Prowl’s face was smooth, and warmed from the spark that powered his body and gave him life. Prowl was real and alive, and not for the first time in his life, Bee wished he could cry. Instead, Bumblebee leant forward, pressing his forehelm to Prowl’s as relief washed through him. Prowl’s EM field expressed a burning curiosity, but also the familiar calmness that so often used to soothe the minibot. The surge of affection that he felt for the mech before him was what inspired Bumblebee to tilt his helm and kiss Prowl full on the lips. Prowl didn’t kiss back, too surprised to even consider pushing Bumblebee away, so when Bee finally pulled back, Prowl remained silent for a full minute, trying to wrench his thoughts back into coherency from the utter chaos and bafflement that Bumblebee’s actions had caused.

Eventually Prowl collected himself enough to lean back in his seat and regard bumblebee with a “… Why?!”

Bumblebee was seated crosslegged on the desk in front of the ninja-bot, embarrassment nipping at his heels as it finally dawned on him what he’d done, and how random it would have looked to Prowl.

“Because I’ve always wanted to do that.” He replied meekly, ducking his helm as the embarrassment finally socked him full in the face from Prowl’s now increasingly confused expression.

“… What?”
