Description
Recently did some amazing fan art for me so I wanted to repay him with art of his character Gaia who is dragon capable of causing plants to grow!
Even though I do lots trades and love doing them I deeply deeply deeply appreciate fan art of all styles and skills. It means so much to me that people are thinking about my creations and love them enough to draw them just for the fun of it and share it!

Yeah I really have trouble with backgrounds so I wanted to try and at least give him something to stand on that portrayed his power in someway.

When I draw a picture I sometimes add one traditionally but it's always like a flat color for floor, I use digital effects the most.

Yeah... backgrounds can be troublesome. I think they can add a lot but can take too much and can even distractfrom the character.

That's understandable, backgrounds take up too much time especially working with a crap ton of detail and color.
Everything would stand out but that's the problem EVERYTHING WOULD STAND OUT, you wouldn't be able to see anything so I just keep it simple for now.

Luckily Gaia is purple so it was easy to have him stand out against the green ground.

I actually had to think about his body to make it stand out, I didn't just think outside the box I flipped the box and threw it outside...
Also I was thinking about flowers and stuff when I drew him, his first concept was going to be a Western like dragon, but it collided with the fluffy part and didn't work out so I went with super huggable fluffy dragon plush toy effect.

I think you did really well! I generally prefer the western dragon design waaaay over the eastern dragon design and you definitely did something unique here!

Β I think yours has more Western styling. Which is why I like him partly. XD but I think it's creative enough that anyone can enjoy it.

Haha it's okay. XD Basically eastern dragons are the long noodle ones that are wise and magical. And Western dragons are the proud and super destructive ones. (which is why they're they best. XP )
