Back when I first started doing Nineteen-Ninety-Something, far and away the most frequent criticism I got from my readers was "Please don't make your characters swear." Which I found goddamn fucking hilarious. Like... did you not go to high school? This is 100% how teenagers talk. Aunt Vicky gets it, and that's why she's awesome. Ronald, slightly less so.

For what it's worth, those complaints have more or less dried up by now. I think I finally scared all the scandalized monocle-droppers away. Wherever they went, I hope they're enjoying their Garfield books in peace.
