I kinda miss the days when these were our biggest problems. Hard to believe anybody even got up in arms about this in the first place - I mean, the guy was at a porno theater, what else are you supposed to do there?

This is one of my favorite ways to write Nineteen-Ninety-Something, to start the conversation on a then-recent pop culture topic and segue it into learning about the characters. That's more or less been my goal from the beginning, to develop my cast by how they react to what's going on around them in the world. I just prefer to do it in the '90s because we're far enough away from it now that you can look at stuff like this that seemed so scandalous at the time and go "What the fuck was everybody freaking out about, exactly?"
