A big part of reshaping Nineteen-Ninety-Something has been expanding on ideas I merely tapped on before, but an equally big part has been scaling back on ideas that didn't need the attention I gave them. Case in point, Jenny's misadventures with her long-lost imaginary friend. Since I no longer write Jenny as an insufferable junior psychopath, there's no need to do a longer story where she tries to break up Joel and Michelle for no reason by destroying their belongings. Instead, she's just a rambunctious kid who doesn't think stuff through, and that's still a real good way to get yourself in trouble. One quick "what the fuck was that" gag is all you need.
