Description Does it strike anyone else as odd whenever a teen idol writes their "life story" when they're not even a quarter of a century old? Justin Bieber is only the most recent example; I know Miley Cyrus wrote her autobiography a few years ago, and I think she was 15 at the time. Most regular kids that age are just penning badly written Harry Potter slashfic that nobody outside their Facebook page will ever read.

I was in Wal-Mart and I saw Justin Beiber's next to Miley's. I laughed and thought "Why the hell do the 12 year olds have an autobiography??" Then I turned to my friend, picked up Justin Beiber's book, and said "Bet you 10 bucks that I know what every page of this book already. Chapter 1: I'm bored, lets sing on Youtube. Chapter 2: I'm a star from Youtube. Chapter 3: Hurray! I finally hit puebrty!!"

Yeah, autobiographies should come near the END of a celebrities career, not at the START of it. I felt the same way when I saw a Lady Gaga book. Whats the point, all the interesting things are yet to come for these people.

It is very odd, unless they are about to drop dead, be murdered, or otherwise cease to have anything more to write about. THough in the case of teen idols the track records seem to show that once you get out of being a teen there really isn't all that much to write about...

Thanks for using both the words "most" and "regular," for that excludes me. As of that time, I was in high school; building up my...spirit. The true Golden Age for me had yet to dawn...

Strike while the iron is hot. Bieber could be washed up before he can legally drink.

I think that punchline was deeply biting and very funny.
As for Mily Cyrus, anyone who's worked alongside enough members of the Carradine family of actors is likely to have an acceptable amount of anectdotes to fill out a small book.

Justin Bieber's shitty memoir is no match for Nikki Sixx's Heroin Diaries. Sex, drugs, and rock n roll from one of the greated bands to ever existed makes it a compelling read.

Please tells me this arc ends with Steve punching Justin

I also recommend Slash, and Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir. Which books I used to cover up Justin Bieber's book at the Barnes n Nobles I go to.

Jesse do you read any rock stars auto bios?

I agree, Jesse- it's pretty flippin' weird that these kids would want to start personal memoirs at their age. What? Did they figure they're gonna go through some kind of Christ-esque vision, and write down as much as they can about themselves and whatever before their number's up?

Yeah, I understand writing one when interesting things happened, like a child that struggles with autism, but even then they should wait.

15 is the START of someone's life, right?

That's the plan. I know a fellow here on DA who says he's willing to provide me with a space on his comic site if I want it, and I think I'm gonna take him up on that.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Doodley In reply to jbwarner86 [2010-11-01 19:31:35 +0000 UTC]

I recommend against that.

Get your own site. There are plenty of cheap hosting services, easy webcomic managers (ComicPress), and when the time comes and you want to make money off the comic, you can sell ad space via Project Wonderful without having to share profits.
