I’ve been taking a break from Forever 16 and Off the Deep End this week to avoid burning myself out on them. I feel like I’ve been driving myself too hard lately trying to make them work, and it was starting to stress me out. So in the meantime, I’m just sketching new stuff whenever inspiration strikes me.Much like Jocelyn, here's another character based on a real person who I just had to draw. I was surfing DeviantArt for photos that I could use for drawing reference, and I came across this one monsteryoumademe.deviantart.co… and did my best to capture that pose in my style. I liked this guy’s character design (is that weird, to refer to actual living people as having a “character design”? I don’t really know what else you’d call it – style? Overall look? Whatever, you get the idea) so I drew an original pose too. There was a guy I knew in high school who looked just like this – he appeared to all the world as a stereotypical self-loathing emo Hot Topic prowler, yet he was one of the friendliest, cheeriest, and most confident guys I’d ever met. I always admired that about him.
Hell, I may end up using this design again. I bet there’s the potential for a really fun character here.

When I read that title, it reminds me of a Finding Nemo parody I saw one time of Nemo being drawn like an emo person.

Confession: I adore emos. Girls and boys. Most of the ones I've heard from aren't really annoying. They're sweet and sensitive. And cute! Soooo cute. I should draw emo characters.

When I was in art school. I saw a lot of neat looking people there, that'd make for great character designs!

I've always found it amazing the way you can transform humans into cartoon form flawlessly but this one is especially impressive.
This looks like it could even be the start of its own potential comic series.
But you already have your hands full so I wont pressure you into it.

He could be a kind of gritty superhero, like a new mutant on the X-Men or something. I really like the hair. Very dramatic.
