Description
When I was brainstorming for “Off the Deep End”, I was hoping to think up at least 65 episodes’ worth of ideas, to make it feel like a genuine sitcom. I only came up with seven. But here’s a gag idea I had for one of ‘em.In true Ferris Bueller fashion, Jamie fakes sick so she can skip school and go to the mall with Anjelica…only to discover that her mom is there doing her shopping. The two girls hide all over the mall to avoid her detection, ducking into a pool and spa supply store at one point. But wouldn’t you know it, Jamie’s mom goes in there too, and out of desperation, Jamie and Anjelica hop into the nearest display pool and hide underwater. And to make matters worse, Jamie’s mom picks that exact moment to call her daughter and see if she’s feeling any better…leading to an extremely awkward moment where Jamie has to answer her cell phone underwater and have a bubbly conversation with her mom on the other side of the pool wall. (“Sweetie, you sound terrible! I can barely understand you!”)
I have to admit, I had fun getting a little goofier than usual with this series.

This scene is wonderfully drawn and the description is cliched, yet wonderfully so!

I have to say, your underwater and breath hold arts have such a special charm to them.

You should make Off The Deep End a wackier counterpart to Forever 16. I've listened to the Disney Channel shows as background noise, and their shows get really bizarre. You can have them meet mermaids, battle school science experiments gone wild, and other crazy plots. Heck, you could even make each episode be a parody of some crazy kid sitcom. Like have the cast discover one of the kids is a pop singer in disguise, or a wizard, or from the future, or some student who pretends she has a twin, but actually has a split personality disorder.

Well, I did have an idea for a Halloween episode where Jamie's boyfriend turns out to be part of the vampire subculture. I thought about just going totally nuts and making him a real vampire...but then I thought "Eh, too Twilight-y." Still, I like the idea of doing things in this series that would be too goofy for Forever 16 or Adorkable

You should have Jamie fall in love with a real vampire, and have her be disappointed that he's not like the ones in Twilight.
