The Wreck-It Ralph sequel I never thought I'd get opens on Wednesday, and with the fandom risen from the dead, I can't help but stagger back to the drawing board with them. These poor kids have it rough - first Sugar Rush gets broken and unplugged, and then none of the jerks in Niceland Apartments wants to adopt them. Who knows if they'll ever have a home again? Fix it, Felix!

jbwarner86 Is this when in the fanfiction story, "It's a Slaughterful Life", the other racers are crying about Vanellope leaving them and living in Slaughter Race and they miss her so much and they want her back?

I drew this before I started writing "It's a Slaughterful Life ", but it ended up inspiring that scene in Chapter 1. It irritated the crap out of me when the movie ended with the implication that Vanellope was right that nobody in Sugar Rush would miss her. I was like "No, they're her FRIENDS, for fuck's sake - if she took off forever without even a goodbye, they'd be devastated."
But the sequel is bent on ignoring as much established canon as possible so Pamela Ribon can turn Ralph and Vanellope's friendship into a metaphor for her divorce. So, y'know, grain of salt and all that.

Well, to be honest, when the first ever trailer of the sequel came out, I was expecting Vanellope and the other racers to have a relationship with each other. But when I saw the argument scene between Ralph and Vanellope in the movie, I didn’t know what she meant when she said “Oh, please! I’m one of sixteen racers, they’d never miss me!”, I was actually quite worried when she said that. I mean, if Slaughter Race was a real game, and I had it for my PS4, and Vanellope was in the game for real then, I would just kindly talk to her through my player avatar and ask her what she meant by that. After Sugar Rush got unplugged, I was expecting three of the other racers like Taffyta, Candlehead and Rancis to go to the rooftop and see how she’s doing, or she goes into the penthouse to see how they’re doing. But they didn’t do any of that for each other in the sequel, there wasn’t much relationship between Vanellope and the other racers other than Vanellope and Taffyta trash-talking each other during the race in the sequel. I think you’re right, the sequel did kinda get it all wrong. But luckily, you fixed all that up with the fanfic stories “It’s a Slaughterful Life”, “Wreck-It Ralph 2” and the sketch comic “For The Want Of A Wheel”. I’m going to read “It’s a Slaughterful Life” right now

Aaa that was one of the couple aspects of the sequel i really liked, felix and calhoun adopting the sugar rushers >v<

Would've been nice if we could've seen more than one scene of it, though.
If you break down that one shot of the kids going nuts in the apartment, they're actually doing some very cute kid-like things - Crumbelina is playing with Felix's hammer, Swizzle swipes Candlehead's candle when she's not looking, Rancis is pushing Minty around on a chair and she's pretending to steer with a plate (that's adorable, that they pretend-race when they can't do it for real). There was tons and tons of fun potential in this subplot, and it bums me out a lot that they just set it up and it literally went nowhere. Kind of a massive oversight.

They should make at least one of those short cartoons that show before the movie showing more of the Sugar Rush kids causing trouble in Felix's house. Sure, not giving away the un-reveal of HOW they made them behave, but still, would be fun to see.

Hmm yeah that was another complaint i had...nelly you have a people to rule, go home ;v;. But yeah, id at least have liked to see a lil bit more of them too, and how felix and calhoun got from point a to point b with them ^^u

I still imagine off screen that Ralph reports from Vanellope that she has retired from her role as princess of Sugar Rush and will gladly give the role of new leader/princess to Taffyta Muttonfudge who seems qualified to take over in her absence and will get used to it in time as long as she has help from Sour Bill about running everything. I blame none of them for seeing that their game is out of order due to old age and the possibility that whatever company created Sugar Rush went out of business not too long ago so they are becoming outdated and their device is rare one can only find on Ebay for such an expensive price none of them could afford.
Too be honest, the ending would have been way too predictable if both characters went home and said goodbye to the internet with everything going back to normal as if they learned nothing new at all, which was already done in Hotel Transylvania 2 and other films with characters deciding to stay where they are after all instead of moving away. Besides Ralph still has Felix, Calhaun, the Nicelanders, and everyone else who hasn't left their game for new adventures. In time he will learn to get used to the fact that Vanellope has grown and made her own decisions that he must respect and not hold her back from it.

Y'know what, having seen the movie now, I hereby retcon this drawing. This is what I imagine the racers' reaction would be when Ralph tells them what Vanellope decided to do at the end.
Sure, it's depressing and bleak. That's how I felt walking out of the theater too.
