Description
This is a contest entry for the lovely artist Saimain. She has an art book contest for her series Not All Kings Wear Gold (which is an art book series she has going)I'm hoping that she likes this. It was done a few days ago, but with my play going on, just now got around to submitting it.
All of it is freehand and I wanted to do something with a border. I liked how the characters came out. Please comment and critique on things such as my details and composition. How do you feel about this pic??

EDIT: I changed my description a bit for copyright purposes and description of the contest and characters. I changed the title to "Evening" as well since Julian is a vampire and would not like the sun. Thanks Saimain for the help.

Wow, you've done an amazing job on this! The details are wonderful, the symmetry is great, characters are accurate...and that is one killer border. ^__^ I think Sali's my favorite part; he's so pretty and peaceful and playing with the water. Lovely, lovely work...very impressive. You must have spent a lot of time on this.

Thanks. Your comments mean a lot to me! I was having a certain difficulty with some parts of the characters (like Sali's smile--which I've mentioned before) and other things. I definitely would have done more pencil shading if I had the time. But with my play that I'm in, I surprised myself I found the time to come up with this.
I'm very happy with the result. Glad that the characters look like they should. Can't wait until I get you books! They sound like some good reading.

You know I'm not too sure. It was meant for just a pencil drawing (more shaded and detailed than this here), but I could color it. Maybe I should try coloring it digitally--if I had some good programs....

Limewire takes freakin forever though. i dont have the time or the patience for it..... I WANT IT NOW!!!!

Download before bed and leave the computer on. It only took me 2 hours to get limewire, and less than that to get photoshop. Waiting for 2 hours sure beats paying 900$ for a free program. 9_9;

Not if you have a virus scanner on your computer. It lets you know there's a virus in it before you download. Also, if you were to get limewire I could tell you which one I downloaded, and use. So you know it's safe.

I think the drawing came out great. I love those "weavings", as they add a really cool dynamic to the garden fantasy (as does the angel). Your compositions are always great, so I think you don't need to worry about making those lines of unity so legato. Awsome pic overall.
