Description Almost everyone loves Star Wars but, for me ,the really great movies were "Dark Crystal" and "Labyrinth". They were full of adventures and magic, but they showed darker worlds and the themes weren't as simplistic. Even as a kid I knew that they were talking about things way, way deeper than "good vs evil" and things like that. Of course the ability and vision of Jim Henson had a lot to do with that, but the other part of the ecuation were the amazing designs of Brian Froud. The guy is a genius, the way he approaches the "uncanny valley" without entering it is awesome. His designs are never gotesque even when playing with proportions of human like creatures that usually should be a big "no, no".

Anyway, in the SketchThis challenge about Favourite Musician, searching for references of David Bowie as Jareth, the goblin king, I found the little worm that Sarah meets entering the Labyrinth, and it remind me the meme with Fry of Futurama. And I wanted to do this.

I have cheated A LOT. The problem is that Matt Groening's characters are very simplistic construction wise, snd things like the mouth curved downwards are not a problem at all, but if the character is more complex it's a different thing. So, after like a dozen of drawings that didn't appeal to me, I made the changes in the original design to make it "work" to my liking. The "cheats" are using the upper side of the eyes as eyebrowns, also lowered the cheeks and everything between the eyes, and other minor changes.

I'm somewhat satisfied with the result.

Thank you very much! . I have sketched another one Labyrinth related, but to paint it I've decided to stop playing with an Android tablet and start doing more serious work properly in PS. So I'm struggling a bit getting used to the new tools.
