I've actually been trying to get back into LoL and it didn't take long form me to start following a pattern when running into a Cass.
1. Stop where you stand
2. Turn around
3. LEG IT AND NEVER LOOK BACK!
No matter how tanky you are, Cass can murder you in three seconds flat!

Sure, she's strong, but when i have a spirit visage, unholy grail, abyssal scepter, mercury's threads, A maw of malmortius and a Mikael's crucible and she still destroys me in the blink of an eye, that's borderline broken.

I did the math, those items give a total of 245 magic resistance and she still annihilates everything in her path! The only champ i can think of that can survive her full (a.k.a neverending) combo is Garen with his Courage.

You can take down a Cassio by getting close to her, she has paper defense and champions like Diana and Zed can shred her down to scales c:

I suppose farming ip for grabbers like Nautilus, Thresh, Blitzcrank etc. Wouldn't be too bad of an idea as counters. I had a match against one today, curse you riot for making her f2p, as Gangplank and she literally chased me from her base to mine and back to hers while my "teammates" rejoiced in her absence. At that point i had enough cooldown reduction to use my ult TWICE to slow her down before our Nautilus finally helped me take her down. And i couldn't have had worse luck with those ults. She got hit by ONE cannonball counting both of them. The only reason i survived long enough was because of remove scurvy and whatever GP's E is called. On the plus side i got four teamwork commends for keeping the overfed lvl 18 Cass away as a gold-starved gangplank at lvl 15.

Yup, the only champions i can think of that don't need too much gold are those who have tankiness or disables in their abilities, Amumu and Blitz in particular. However, i recently bought Skarner and that guy needs 2900 gold ASAP for his Iceborn gauntlet or he's gonna be practically useless except when impale's off cooldown. But good lord can he tank in the late-game.
