No secrets, dear Paivi. Just the miracles of nature.
The only thing is to find them, i.e. to be at out in the forest under the right circumstances. So I was out this morning again, made lovely misty lane pictures, and I hope to submit some of them in the near future. But no sunbeams, as there were none.
What you need is the combination of mist and sunshine, i.e. low mist and the sun piercing through branches to light it up. Normally you only get it quite early in the morning, as the sun sucks up the mist pretty quickly if it is shining brightly enough for a good beam picture.
And you need a position looking towards the sun or have it at least shining from the side. With it in the back there are no beams visible. If it is directly in front, you need a tree or something to block the direct sunlight off, so that the beams go to the side as on this picture.
If it comes from the side, there is no need to block it directly. See for example: [link]
And you need a somewhat darker background. Otherwise you will not see the beams.
The rest is learning by trying, i.e. finding the right exposure. Normally just a little underexposing the shot, but not too much.
So much for my "secrets". I hope you will find the place with the right conditions! After all your wonderful lake shots do show mist from time to time.
