It looks as if a powerful necromancer is raising a skeleton of a giant back to life. Or rather turns him into an undead minion. either way the red liquid seems to be either a giant ammount of blood needed to summon such beast, some sort of lava that hid the giant throughout the years or demonic energy that brings him back to life.
Either way it's goddamn badass! 
I really love that red glow and the rendering is simply superb. Can't wait to see more ^^

I was thinking a bit and I thought that if some slight changes were made it could have been the opposite - if there was a bit more action, the scenery was less calm and perhaps the main character wasn't looking like a typical necromancer, it could've been a giant slaying mage, getting rid of a powerful demon.
