==LCBW==
The LCBW is a blended wing aircraft design intended to repurpose outdated airliners such as the 747 for continued use in a lower capacity role. Planes undergo a conversion process which removes the main fuselage shifts all passengers to the inside section of the wing. In this case the passenger load is significantly reduced, but at the same time the aircraft’s weight, lift requirements, and range improve, as the plane is more efficient running on half of the powerplant.

A large change that occurs on LCBW‘s is the engine placement, as the engines provide a level of trim and stability to the airplane. By mounting the engines on top, the moment arm of the center of thrust helps keep the nose down while at the same time it offers stability in the tractor configuration. By placing the center if thrust further in front of the center of gravity, the rest of the aircraft follows the direction the engines are pulling, offering more control than other flying wing aircraft. Another pair of benefits is the noise reduction caused by blocking the engines with the aircraft’s fuselage and the reduced chance of runway debris ingestion with its new intake height.

Another key advantage that the aircraft offers is the glider functionality, making it one of the few aircraft in the airline industry that can easily glide to a runway on no power. In the event of engine failure, the aircraft behaves much less like a conventional airliner and reacts more akin to a flying wing glider similar to the Horten designs.
