Equally conservative in design compared to back home are the tubeworms.  Some of them, like the sea centipede, the thingamabob, the sea simurgh and the brachiopod worm, look as though they have eyes. We don't know why they look that way, as the eyespots don't look like defense mechanisms against predators, and they don't seem to have enough of them to catch light.


One of the worms is called "sea simurgh" due to its resemblance to the bird of human mythology, not the pterosaurs that nightmarishly hunted dinosaurs.
