Description

Subfamily Chymoidea, the undines, art by , names by

Most of them have their stems filled with air bubbles so that they can float on the surface. The largest of them, the trunko bloom, is big enough to support around 65 pounds of weight.

Most insects couldn't fly to deeper water, where they usually grow, so the nixies lure them in by having large, odoriferous flowers. The largest of these flowers comes from the Nessie blossom of the British archipelago, with blossoms averaging in at five inches in height.

The five species of the genus Deinorosa, the Charybdis roses, grow in the waters of Sicily and Italy. They collect rainwater, and some species of frogs lay their eggs in the flowers. The tadpoles collect the pollen and when they mature into frogs and hop onto other roses, they discard their childhood collection of pollen, and the flower is pollinated.
