Description Yes, it's page one of the Bearer of the Scythe Epilogue again. I just wanted to try something and decided to show it to you guys!

I was bored, then I asked myself what would Mandy's comic look like if it was translated? So out of curiosity I translated the text as accurately as I can into Filipino! Fellow Pinoy deviants, check it out!

But now that it's translated into our local language, it sounds kinda cheesy when I read it!

To be scrapped after a while.

doesn't seem cheesy to me, but i don't understand a word of it! it still continues to look beautiful, though!

Well, it's cheesy to me since I can understand it and relate to in full. That's because you won't really find anyone speaking like this in real life, even in our country!

I guess this would be like watching a contemporary show where eveyone speaks like they're part of a renaissance fair!

It's basically in Tagalog. But I only said it's in Filipino just to be politically correct.

Cool. I had to ask my dad about a word or two, but I basically got it. I just can't picture a little blonde girl like Mandy speaking tagalog. >.<

LOL, being a Filipino Cebuano I can get the gist of it, but I have to admit I wouldn't be able to write it that well. So, good job. Though, I just can't get over giggling at the image of Mandy speaking in pure Filipino. XD

I had a little help from my dad. I had no idea what "scythe" translates into!

And yeah, Mandy speaking in straight Filipino? It was just too bizzare! But it was still interesting to see what it'd look/sound like!

And Pugad Baboy is excellent reading material far as I'm concerned! Nice to hear that you're also reading master PMJR's works!

I've always found out that to speak purely in Filipino makes one sound like formal and archaic. As in purong Filipino. Like that guy in Kiko Machine, he tried to speak in pure, non-slang Tagalog. His mother thought he was high in drugs. Nakakapanibago at mahirap makisabay. Pero maganda ang paggawa mo sa aking pananaw kahit keso ang turing mo dito. Ilalagay ko na po ito sa aking mga paborito! (Heh-heh, I was actually raised like Fil-Am so I'm still actually improving my language).

Jdan-S In reply to LCTechno [2006-05-28 13:42:58 +0000 UTC]

I know. We've grown so accustomed to speaking in Taglish that it seems weird to hear someone converse in straight Filipino!

Personally, I trace it to the pop icons the Filipinos look up to today. I mean geez, I can literally feel my IQ slowly diminishing whenever I listen to some kikay chick talking in showbiz Taglish ("Kasi, y'know naman na he was so, like, chaka, I mean really.")! But I guess I can't really complain since I too can't help but speak in Taglish most of the time! ><

Translating this page made me realize how deep I've gotten absorbed into speaking in Taglish due to the trend in contemporary times, so I try and make it a point to watch my language: Ingles na kung Ingles at Tagalog kung Tagalog, hangga't maaari!
