Two pics of Ashley and Red from the Warioware series, drawn years apart.On the left, we have a pic I worked on back in November 2009 (when I was inactive here at dA). This one was just waiting to be placed in a suitable background, but I couldn't get the layout just right and never made a finished version. Now that I'm back, it's a bit outdated compared to my current works. It'd be a shame to let it go to waste though, so I decided to showcase it alongside a completely redrawn version!
With regards to the level of detail and coloring style, nothing much seems to have changed. Maybe that just means I have established an art style I'm comfortable with. What has improved is how different elements have become more dynamic in the new pic: poses, character placement, hair and clothes etc. In contrast, the 2009 pic looks very generic and rigid. Also, Red looks a bit too chunky.
I guess what I'm trying to improve right now is composition, or making sure the elements of a pic as a whole are balanced and appear natural. That, and exploring new methods and fields like vector and 3D art.

The 2009 version never got posted since it was never finalized.
As for the 2012 pic, I just posted the finished version in my main gallery.

It's always amazinmg isn't it? Artists look at something they recently did, then look back at some of thier first and most will go "Wait, is this drawn by the same person?" It's always fun to see how a persons style evolves.

True. Looking through my older works, I can definitely see the flaws I never noticed before. The one who made this meme was on to something.
