That autumn night, folk barred their doors, shuttered their windows, and shushed their dogs and children. They knew better than to so much as look up from their candles on a night like this, and they stayed awake, and talked nervously among themselves. Of small things, meaningless things, just to make a sound to hide the noises from outside. It was distant, wind-borne, and horrible. The shrieking, the howling -at times it sounded like there was a whole orchestra out there, a damned good one but with a symphony to make the strongest of them tremble. And worst of all was the shrieking laughter that drifted down from the cursed mountain-top where no trees ever grew, wringing and stretching the heartstrings of all who heard it. Devils danced on the mountain peaks on a night like this, though none could say what revelry they might get up to produce such unearthly sounds!

Notes and Stuff

Believe it or not, this was supposed to be a Hallowe'en piece, but then Life intervened, so here it is two weeks late! Does anybody else remember the old Fantasia movie, by Disney? Showed a bunch of smaller music-videos in tune to various pieces of classical music. 'Rites of Spring' was my favourite, but 'Night on Bald Mountain' was a close second. It just looked like so much fun. I always liked the part showing the various Fire Nymphs dancing in the palm of Chernabog's palm. I was small enough at the time that the Harpies flashing their tits didn't do much for me, but one day it occurred to me that the two characters could stand to get to know one another a little better. So here's two Harpies pinioned in the hands of His Satanic Majesty and getting tormented by the resident firegirls!

Just this once, I am actually quite happy with the poses and anatomy, turned out close to what I hand in mind. The flip side is the lighting, that didn't work out at all like I had in mind. Obviously, Lord Chernabog's hands are too small, but, hey, he's a god, I'm sure he can shrink or grow them as needed to better play with his toys.
