So why did you get the Sigma rather than the Canon??? Is it simply the cost factor - that is high on my wish list ... maybe if the tax man is nice to me this year

Haha yeh i had the same questions!

I went the Sigma because it was cheaper and has a EF mount. The Canon is EF-S and can't be used on cameras like a 5D.

The amount of distortion is also important to think consider. If i remember correctly, the Canon has a small amount across the whole image but the Sigma doesnt have any until the edges (at which point it distorts more than the Canon).

I'd recommend finding two exact photos taken with the lenses and see if the difference in results is worth the extra money...
