Nice, however I look at it as a statement of the exaggeration of the need for c-sections. Sorry if that's not what you're meaning it to be.

Very interesting~ My best friend was actually a C-section, since she came out the wrong way.

That's the kind of c-section my mom got when she had my little brother. It was an emergency one as he was almost 3 months early. It saved her life.
I had the new age one almost 4 months ago and I have no regrets.
Thank you for making such a freaked out about thing look the way it really is. Beautiful.

My mom had one of those old c-sections...
Anyway, congrats on another amazing photo and concept. You're one of the most inventive people here on dA. Kudos for that and for always keeping me eager to see your next photo and what you'll come up with
Best of luck to you and your work!

My wife had to have C-sections with both of our children. I sure am glad that they don't do them vertically, like your picture implies, anymore. I hope you never have to have one of the old-style C-sections! Some doctors are very bad about using a C-section if there is any excuse for doing so--I guess they like to make more money regardless of how much it hurts their patient.
Did you use staples to give this picture a three-dimensional quality? It looks painful, regardless of technique.

My mother had a C-section. She's constantly telling people she now has a 'zipper'. Great job!

my wife is having a baby within the next few weeks, she might have to have a C-section, this makes my stomach crawl and twist, but this is nice, it gets the meaning accross well.
well done

I had my son almost 4 months ago and had to get a c-section. I absolutely didn't want one because I didn't want to have the scar. But when my son's heart rate dropped drastically and they had to perform one on me to get him out I was so glad they did it.
I'll have a scar the rest of my life, but now I have a beautiful son who's totally worth it
Just wanted to share that with you. Congratz on your new baby when s/he comes! They're great fun!

Brilliant idea and an inventive take on a c-section, it looks very realistic. There is one minor flaw that I see though, the zipper head should be flipped over. The way it is positioned now she should be "unzipped".
If you already know or don't care please disregard everything past the first sentence.

Well, I'd say that people are just lazy nowadays with giving birth (sadly) and would just rather do a c-section for that reason... maybe... -___-
I wonder what that would feel like afterward... I bet that it isn't something considered at all really after the baby has been born though, you know?

JeanFan In reply to cougarsforJesus [2010-05-16 20:14:07 +0000 UTC]
I highly doubt a statistically significant number of women would be willing to subject their bodies to such mutilation out of sheer laziness...or do I think any decent obstetrician would allow it. Even though elective c-sections do occur, c-sections are still generally performed for the sake of minimization of risk to mother and child

cougarsforJesus In reply to JeanFan [2010-05-16 20:22:40 +0000 UTC]
Oh. Sorry. I was thinking that may have been why they were performed a number of the times that they were (or that that was partly the reason)... That was my opinion.... ^___^"
Nice job capturing the concept though! ^___^
This may be irrelevant, but how did you get the flesh to look like it had been zipped together?... O_o"

JeanFan In reply to cougarsforJesus [2010-05-17 00:19:10 +0000 UTC]
Ah
It's a photomanipulation. So a stock photo of staples were used. Staples look like zippers in a sense I suppose

That's cool. ^___^
It actually looked kind of like seems... It was like the stomach was sewn together, but I saw the zipper so I knew that it was zipped... ^___^
Nice job!! ^___^

Really creative and original concept.
The scars and staples are disgustingly realistic. They should go up to the belly button though. I.e: you should be able to see them through the holes in the zipper handle.
Good job.
