my name is jean...i suffer from math phobia-----
self timer. konica minolta dimage z6. a board with worksheets in the background and a board with worksheets taped on in front of me. tried to make the tone kinda scary with editing but im not sure i like it. damn math....

Math is pretty complicated only if you don't spend enough time for it, but the most crippling aspect is when you don't have a use for it.
As a programmer I welcome math because it allows me to use formulas to calculate the positions of other objects and much more.
I am terrible at math, but I just watch khanacademy's videos and study purely for the fact that I want to have such a great advantage.
If there are a few things I can say about learning math is this:
- You have to drill, but that doesn't mean it's boring. It's more like a game really.
- Math is like cooking, you follow the steps in order to create the right dish.
- Math is used in just about every aspect of life so you will be incredibly crippled and slow if you don't know it.
- Math can help you do great things and is a helpful asset!
I mean come on, I'm terrible at this kind of stuff, but I can get it only if I spend enough time with it.

I love math and people who hate it just don't understand the real reason why it exists. Why algebra exists. Calculus. Geometry. even linear algebra.
people study things for a while because of its beauty, then some engineer or physicist uses the mathematics, pulled off the shelf, to solve a problem.
Suddenly it's all about applications.

Yeah, I felt the same way thru primary and high school education. However, quitting math and becoming an English major just made me feel inadequate and disabled, so it was either overcoming dyscalculia or suicide. I'm not against suicide at all (heck, I even have an organ donor card, so I'll have to kill myself before I'm 50 anyway), but I had to give it a try. Currently doing an improvement program with a math teacher who dealt with special needs kids for like 30 years. She's cool, making me finally understand the stuff and keeping me motivated when I get stuck. You can do it, too.

That's really neat! I raelly like the concept and the composition is great~ The only thing is that the model looks more suprised than scared and it takes away from the concept of phobia.
