Materials and Methods
Nikon D80 + 50mm F.18 Nikkor. Exp: +3.0 to blow out the background. Selectively replaced some red building blotches in the background using the color replacement tool. Curves to brighten and bring out blue/green hues. Minor noise reduction and sharpening. See my FB page for the before and after post editing: [link]
Additional Comments
Sorry for having been missing from DA for awhile. We recently moved into off campus housing. This shot was taken in the dining room. It's a pretty old building so they have these weird old furnaces (the thing I'm sitting on). The stove has a pilot light...seriously ancient technology. Anyways, when we moved in, the gas and electric company turned on our gas but forgot to turn on our electricity...and apparently they don't work weekends or holidays so we were without electricity for awhile

This is an interesting quote selection, placing man and his physical reality squarely in the middle of light and dark. The picture is appropriately thoughtful looking.
I wish I'd at least completed one semester of the philosophy class I started in college, but I was young, lazy and always wanted to be right. I've corrected one of those, do far!

you are beautiful. I think I like it more if the shot is in landscape, it goes nicely with your sitting position.

Very nice.
But I must say it looks like it was one hell of a bright day that day.

It's interesting to see a photo of a girl looking out the window beyond the unknown while reading a book
