This artwork is inspired by the lovely and incredibly imaginative, talented, and intuitive, AnnMY !! She weaves her incredible au and headcanon ideas for Warriors to fill in the blanks for characters and family trees I didn't even know I wanted filled!! I am constantly inspired by her works, and that is how this piece came to be!

[ref used] Depicting the beloved Brightheart from the Warriors series, and beside her is Dandelionfur , the deceased kit of Squirrelflight and Bramblestar if she had lived. AnnMY's take was that Dandelionkit would become Brightheart's first apprentice, and it was such a sweet idea that I had to draw something of the two,, because,, omg,, super cute, right?? its almost midnight forgive my inability to write coherent sentences lmao

i just imagine that brightheart and cloudtail had been sparingly discussing retiring some day, but brightheart had been holding out with the feeling that her duty as a warrior was not yet fulfilled. given Dandelionpaw would probably be a huge shock for her since i imagine she gave up the hope of be a mentor a very long time ago. she puts her all into helping Dandelionpaw utilize her strengths despite her proneness to falling ill, and the two come to share a very deep bond (like grandmother/granddaughter sort of deal)

and she finally feels she can move to the elders den when Dandelionfur receives her warrior name. at last her experience and unique skills and abilities have been passed down to the next generation and she can feel fulfilled with her duty to her clan.

it would have been such a wonderful little side story apart from the main plot of the books had it been canon! And a great way to introduce and build new characters while properly handling and retiring the old ones.

also, if you are waiting on art from me, i will be able to get to it soon!! the very creative warriors fandom has me spitting out artwork in the span of 30 minutes while things i need to get done seem to take me many hours! however in two weeks i will be graduating and will have the freedom of the summer to catch up on all i need to do! please bear with me, i love you all<33
