| Written Appearance: | Velveteer is a very daunting looking pony thanks to his Father, who was also quite large. His legs are very well muscled, and sturdy, equipped with beige Unicorn hooves. His form is magnificently chiseled, complete with perfectly aligned shoulders, and a very solid chest. Beautiful muscle definition -- save for his back legs -- is seen throughout his body, including his neck because of his genes, and the fact that he uses his front legs to move the majority of his lower body. His head is oval shaped, with a standard sized muzzle, and alert tufted ears. A uniquely horn sits upon his head with a slight ombré tip. Though his rump does have some muscular definition, the legs are nowhere near as defined as the front because of their lack of use due to his paralysis. They are also slightly under formed, appearing thinner than what would be normal. His tail is long and fluffy, style into a slightly curled wave. Colours of brown spread across the length of his flank, only interrupted by darker Appaloosa markings that stretch along his rump, and forelegs. Cinnamon, light brown, and darker brown streaks mark his cropped mane and styled forelocks, matching the same pattern of his tail. Vel's eyes are almond in shape, and are completed with stunning red irises, that appear to be a shining ember at a distance.

[Texture:] Vel's fur is actually quite soft and plush, including the hair in his mane and tail. When he was little, he used to use the fluffy cushioning of his tail as a pillow, and always makes sure that his fur is kept in a silky condition.
[Length:] The majority of the time the fur on his body is short, with the exception of the feathering along his legs -- the feathering on the back legs is kept cropped so it doesn't get stuck in the gears of his wheelchair -- however, during the winter, Vel's fur actually grows more fluffier to make up for the chilly weather. His mane and tail are a different story. Thanks to Vel's mother, his mane and tail both grow like weeds, resulting in him constantly needing to get it cut. His hair is especially thick, so he will usually kept his mane cropped, and his tail specially styled so it doesn't annoy him.

[Nearsighted:] Though his eyesight isn't horrible, Velveteer still often wears glasses to help with his mild nearsightedness. Previously they were only worn during the times he would read, but after attending University, Vel has resorted to wearing his glasses almost all the time.
[Leg Paralysis:] When Velveteer was three years old there was a fire in his house, leading to a lower spinal injury that resulted in the loss of his back legs. Since that day he has had to rely on a wheelchair, and his magic, in order to go through his daily activities.

[Wheelchair:] Since his paralysis, Vel has had to use a wheelchair. It is heavier, but he has come to enjoy it, and has grown used to it so much so to where he often forgets he's paralyzed. With the help of his magic it isn't hard to take off and put back on, though the only times he usually doesn't wear it is when he is reading or going to bed -- away from the public eye. The chair was designed to specifically allow motion so Vel can walk, sit and lay down without difficulty, though he often only takes it off when he's relaxing.
[Spectacles:] His spectacles are pretty standard, and he rather enjoys the rounded glass, and material they're made of since it makes them comfortable to wear often. The prescription isn't very intense, but he wears them a lot anyways since it makes things easier for him.

| Written Appearance: | Vel's cutie mark is an open book with cream coloured pages, and indecifered writing. Seeping out of the folds within the pages is red magic -- the same colour of Vel's magic aura.

| Brief Description: | Velveteer actually got his cutie mark very late, so late in fact, that he was terrified that he would never actually discover his special talent, and would remain a blank flank forever. However, when he graduated high school and started going to university, he finally discovered what he was meant to do and a cutie mark of his own finally appeared on his flank.
| Trigger: | Vel didn't get his cutie mark until later because of the fact that he was always too wrapped up in his studies, and family workplace to actually stop and figure out what his destiny was. However, finally, in his first year of university, Vel discovered what it was that he was meant to do in his school's Library. He was in the magic section, trying to go over certain books for his studies, when the young Unicorn started having trouble finding a particular spell. Vel made the decision to use his special talent -- Animate -- and brought the book to life so he could ask it kindly to help him out so he could study. The Librarian saw this happen, and was amazed, offering Vel a part time job at the library so he could use his skill to help others. At that moment Vel realized that that was what he was meant to do -- use his magic and vast knowledge to help others -- and a cutie mark instantly appeared on his flank.

[Description:] It is fairly obvious just by looking at him that Vel isn't, and never will be in peak physical condition. Due to a lower spine injury, the otherwise healthy Unicorn, is unable to use his back legs, forcing him to rely on a wheelchair to get himself around Dappleton. The injury can never be healed, and though he still has use of his tail, he has little to no feeling over the span of his back legs, rendering them useless. Besides this, Vel is also mildly nearsighted, so he is often seen with glasses to help with this.

[Description:] Emotionally Vel is mostly okay -- the majority of the time. Not a lot effects his emotional stability, and only a few things ever seem to phase him. The thing that bothers him the most is when others treat him differently because of his paralysis, or mention it in a bad way. He usually won't have issues about telling friends how he became paralyzed, but strangers asking about it randomly may make him uncomfortable. Since the memories of the fire also bug him, he doesn't often talk about that point in his life, or about his past in general, with the exception of his experiences while in university. Otherwise he can be very closed off about his past life, and only ever seems to share the intimate details with close friends.

| Summary: | Vel has only ever had a few relationships throughout the course of his life, none of which were very successful. Most of the time he's too busy with his studies, or running the Library to care much about going out and finding love, especially since he has substantial proof that love doesn't exist -- or so he claims. Being a Nihilist doesn't really help his sexy man charm anyway, especially when he goes into long philosophical arguments about how life is actually pointless, or whatever point he's trying to prove. Despite this, however, Vel does eventually want to have a lasting relationship. He wants to have a family one day, and wishes to share a life with someone who he can appreciate and who appreciates him. Since Vel enjoys magic, he also would enjoy the company of someone who also hold this interest, or at least someone who doesn't mind him talking about it/ Tehy'd also have to deal with his huge family, and their crowded gatherings. Having compelling debates about the existence of the world, and the morals that exist within it wouldn't be too bad either -- but he won't try to push his luck.

[Description:] Relationships are hard for Vel, especially since the concept of romance, and even things as simple as flirting are quite foreign to him, and tend to confuse him in general. His approach towards approaching others with infatuation, is babbling on about things he thinks is interesting; including random facts about magic, and other things he likes. Vel definitely wants someone who has a fiery spirit, someone who can keep things interesting, and has compelling intellect, even if their smarts aren't exactly book smart. Vel appreciates the mind, and he wants someone who will talk with him, even if they don't always agree with his arguments. He likes a challenge, and having a complex creature by his side is something he would find absolutely fascinating. Vel also enjoyed others who also hold a deep interest in magic, but wouldn't mind simply filling them in on it while they listened, either. Velveteer is very polite and proper when it comes to others. He is diligent when using proper manners and titles, and will often talk in a way that leaves others wondering if he is a noble of sorts. Velveteer has always addressed others he hasn't become acquaintances with as, "Mister", "Miss" and, "Lord","Lady" etc. Though he rarely expects the same curtesy to be given out to him. He respects others, and their possessions, and is very considerate of feelings, doing his best to avoid hurting others, or coming off as rude in any way, since he hates it when others does so. If anything, Velveteer would rather be looked upon as a proper gentleman, rather than an ill-mannered peasant.

To be put simply, Vel is the kind of Unicorn that could give somebody a cavity just by smiling at them too hard. The guy is almost always a bucket of sunshine and rainbows, to the point where it can actually become very annoying. It is very hard to get him down, and though he isn't obnoxious with his kindness like others can be, it may still be a bit much to those who aren't as enthusiastic with their emotions and goals as he is. Vel tries to treat everyone like a friend, and he very rarely comes across enemies. He is also quite sympathetic towards others, and does well in putting everyone else's needs before his own -- most of the time.

Since he was a little colt Vel has always had a way of protecting others. This was first shown when he leaped out of a window with his little sister to avoid dying in a fire, and forced his back to the ground so that he could protect her from the fall -- the very act that resulted in his paralysis. Though the costa of his heroics were tragic, the benefits were worth it in the end -- his sister and Vel himself are alive because of it --- and he has never regretted this decision. To this day he has continued risking his own wellbeing for the good of others. Once Velveteer becomes attached to someone, he will become extremely protective of them, and that someone will have a friend -- without a doubt -- for the rest of their life. He takes this kind of thing very seriously, as loyalty and respect are both highly important to him.

Vel has never really been a hot head. Despite the rough patch he went through after his paralysis, the majority of his bitchiness has cleared up quite well, and these days he's a pretty happy Unicorn. It's actually quite hard to piss him off, and those that do definitely deserve whatever they have coming to them. Despite this, Vel doesn't actually hold grudges since he sees them as pointless and a waste of energy that he could be spending on his studies. He is also freakishly open-minded, and it's a little concerning what he will accept as long as there's a valid argument behind it.

It's a little scary how well read this stallion is, and how much he can retain. It's even more freaky when he uses big words that everyone else doesn't understand, baffling them to the point where he looks like the idiot. Velveteer has got some serious brains, and with the amount of studying he does, it isn't exactly surprising either. He's always been a bookworm, and since he was a little colt he's taken his studies a little too seriously, if you ask me. He has a very high pursuit of the academics, and enjoys reading and learning about anything and everything. However, intelligence also has it's burdens, and in its own way it can make him pretty withdrawn at times, especially when he doesn't understand social cues like sarcasm, flirting and so on. Vel absolutely hates it when he hears of something he knows jack squat about, and will probably do that thing where he locks himself in his house and reads everything he can on it, before he realizes he's mortal and needs food to actually live, not knowledge.

Vel is a pretty straightforward pony, and the majority of the time he will get straight to the point of what he's trying to say, unless he feels the desirable need to carry on just so somebody knows exactly what his point is. Despite this, the majority of the time he's pretty frank, and when giving his opinion on something he can be very well stated, and straightforward for someone's own benefit. He doesn't usually like when he asks others a simple question and they launch into the huge story about whatever, about that one time they found themselves in Canterlot, after a rabid Griffin carried them there in a mushroom wagon; only to discover that Nightmare Moon had taken over the Kingdom, and was forcing her minions to listen to her horrible monologuing; when a turn of events, and a couple rainbows forced them to stop her with an enchanted toothpick, ending in some kind of dramatic feat, that never actually ends up answering the question. You know what I mean?

Since he was little Vel's been a pretty old fashioned guy. He prefers the simple delights of typewriters, and record players, and has completely disowned the idea of quills, since he thinks they're pointless and too modern for his own tastes. His old-fashioned attitude leads him to do cheesy things like open a carriage door for a lady, offer to pay for meals, walk someone home after going for a stroll...inviting someone on a stroll so he can walk them home, and so on. Despite this old-fashioned behaviour, Velveteer is still pretty open to the new ideas of the future, and though he keeps his old-fashioned sense, he has also adopted more modern things, and accepted the fact that the world is bound to change. However, he will never EVER accept the fact that quills are a thing. That's just going too far with the whole accepting gig.

When it comes to the things he does, Vel always shows intense determination. Gonna make some eggs? HELL YEAH! Feel like petting that cow? HELL FRICKIN YEAH! Hey look at--SWEET CELESTIA, HELL YEAH! -- You get the idea -- When he gives himself a task or goal he takes it very seriously. Sometimes too seriously. It honestly doesn't matter how small, or seemingly pointless it is, if he decides he's going to do it, then he is bloody well going to do it. This is also quite good for helping others, since once he's agreed to something he'll keep his word and do it. Vel has always been like this, it actually gives him anxiety whenever something is left undone, and he refuses to actually go to bed and end his day unless every single task he planned to do is done. It can be a little odd that he feels so determined to do simple tasks all the time, but who can argue when it makes the guy happy, and keeps somepony from having to be a responsible adult and do it themselves, am I right?

Vel is very highly academic, and though with great power, comes great responsibility, there's also the times when he uses that power for irresponsibility, and ends up coming off as a snobby little know-it-all -- and nobody likes that. Despite his usually kind nature, Vel is mortal, and he too is prone to the everyday weaknesses of mortality, one of them being the repulsive behaviours of the know-it-all. Though he generally means no harm by it, sometimes when he's sharing his knowledge with others, or correcting them on something they say, he can come off sounding as if he thinks he's better than everyone, or as if he thinks everyone is incompetent, which is rarely the case. Sometime's his ego is just a little too big for his mouth, and everything just sort of spills out and creates a huge mess. Besides, in his mind Vel is guiding them, so that they don't keep sounding like an idiot all the time. That way they sound smarter, and he -- and others -- don't have to constantly listen to their inaccurate intellect. It's a public service.

Since he plans his day-to-day activities to the second, it is stressful for Vel when something doesn't get done, or isn't completed on schedule. If he has something planned with someone else, it can easily irritate him when that person isn't on time, or doesn't even show up. If they have a reasonable excuse then he can easily forgive them, otherwise he grows angry, and will either leave and continue with the rest of his plans, or try to seek them out and give them a peace of his mind -- which is often noticed by the public because he tends to cause a scene. He literally looks like a steaming rutabaga, it's hilarious -- Vel just simply hates waiting. He likes it when things flow smoothly and on schedule, and is easily stressed out by ripples in his plans.

With half a wagon hanging off this guys ass 24/7 it's shouldn't be a surprise when he can't fit through a doorway, or has trouble performing as perfectly as everyone else. He wasn't exactly the smoothest of colt's when he was younger, but after his paralysis it became a total disaster. Now, this doesn't mean that he trips over everything, or spills every glass he gets, or breaks everything he touches all the time -- that's absurd. It's just most of the time -- and mostly it's because of the awkward, heavy, wagon thing. Though he's grown used to his wheelchair to the point where he sometimes forgets it's there, he still forgets it's there, causing him to crash into things, knock things over, or forget that he can't actually be the next Seabiscuit, because Seabiscuit had four legs, not two.

Vel likes following his daily routine in a fashioned, and mostly predicatable, pattern. He enjoys when things run smoothly, and has a knack for planning out everything in his day. Free time stresses him out since he usually won't know what to do with it, so he prefers to fill up, and use his time wisely, so that he doesn't waste any of it. Though this chronic planning and organization is usually good in most cases, Vel can sometimes over plan, meaning that when something more important comes up, he gets seriously stressed since he has no time for it, forcing him to completely replay his entire day just to make something else fit. This is very bad for the harmonic flow he tends to live in, and an upset is basically like nuking that flow with a massive disaster blaster.

[Reason:] When Velveteer lived in Canterlot, he worked both in a Library and as a Magic Mentor, like his own Mentor, Jinx. When he moved back to Dappleton, after the death of his parents, he decided that he wanted to work as a Wizard for Hire along with a Librarian so that he could keep a part of his past alive. He hopes to find a magical prodigy again that he can train.

[Creation:] With the help of his magic Vel can create certain objects out of thin air. The majority of the time this is simply the creation of things ponies can eat or drink, or small inanimate objects like vases and paper. However, Vel also has the ability to create larger things as well, though this tends to tire him out so he usually chooses to avoid it. Despite the various skills this power possesses Vel cannot create sustained life -- with the exception of plants.
[ Animation: ] Though Vel cannot create life, he can mimic it, giving animation to otherwise inanimate objects, and even give them the ability of speech so he can talk to them. Though this only lasts while the spell is active, it allows Vel to do things like make a typewriter write a letter for him by simply asking it to do so, or have a pair of mits bake a batch of cupcakes, and so on. This skill has been quite useful throughout his life, and is a very cherished one. Depending on what he is animating, it can take quite a lot of concentration so he may takes certain measures to pace himself.

| Watch Your Grammar: | Velveteer is a very literate pony, he doesn't use short cuts like, "They're, It's, etc", and prefers to structure his sentences in a very academic way, often using big words, and sometimes getting a little carried away when making a point. Because of this, whenever someone uses bad grammar, he will correct them, even if they're in the middle of a sentence. He also despises both the misspelling and mispronounciation of words -- it drives him nuts -- and makes him want to slap the illiteracy out of the idiots -- Hey! Maybe there's a spell for that.
| Not A Toy: | Whenever Velveteer gets bored, or feels the need to fidget, he will power up his horn and play with whatever he can find, whether it be a tooth pick or a fork. This can sometimes become quite distracting when he does this during a conversation, but it is simply a general thing that he does, and he usually means no disrespect by it.
| Typewriter: | Probably the weirdest of his habits is the fact that Velveteer has a very strong hate of quills. Who even knows why, he just finds them stupid, and only uses them if he has to scribble something down quickly -- though he'd probably prefer to write it in mud, rather than pick up one of those dreadful objects. Vel prefers to use a typewriter, whether it's for making a plan for his day, writing out a spell, or letter. He loves his typewriter and will never be without it -- literally. Since Vel has unicorn magic -- and will do anything to avoid the mundane use of quills -- he wrote a spell that allows him to shrink inanimate objects, and regularly casts the spell on his typewriter so that he can constantly carry it around with him -- should he need it. It's sad, but at the same time it's pretty genius, so very few know how to properly react.
| Factual Inaccuracies: | What annoys Velveteer more than anything -- yes, even more than the existence of quills -- is when other ponies commit the crime of factual inaccuracies. Velveteer's worst nightmare is when -- Celestia forbid -- someone opens their mouth and has absolutely no goddamn idea what the heck they're talking about. It is the mother of all crimes, and he doesn't care who the pony is, if he catches someone doing it he will interrupt them -- in a horrified rage -- and correct every single factual inaccuracy that they dared utter, just so that he never has to hear them speak of such vile things ever again.
| Planned Out: | Velveteer is a dorky little child, and he honest to Celestia, plans out every minute of his day before he does anything. He enjoys living his life in a certain flow, and whenever the flow of his routine is rippled it completely knocks him off balance, and he freaks out. If he has free time he plans it out, if he wants to go somewhere he plans it out, and so on. This gives him a sense of security, since he knows what he's doing every day, but at the same time it's a more negative quirk since it will throw him into disarray if he has to rearrange his entire day should anything more important come up.

| Secluded Studies: | Another one of Vel's talents is the fact that he has mastered the skills of being a bookworm. This buff baby is a wizard at completely shutting out the world and engulfing himself in his studies. What's great about this skill is that he is like a sponge when it comes to knowledge Vel retains the majority of what he reads, making this actually a good thing. What's even more fascinating though is the incredible ability to disappear into his personal study for days at a time! Only to emerge into the land of the living once more in order to get some more book -- or when he actually stops and realizes his body needs to eat in order to survive.
| Chef Velveteer: | Because of his Father, Coffee Bean, Velveteer is very gifted at baking and cooking, and actually really enjoys doing it -- when he isn't being a lazy little turd and using his Creation spell to pop in magical food, from whatever dimension he even pulls that stuff out of. He says it all tastes the same, but maybe it isn't wise to eat magically generated food when he has no idea where it comes from.
| Spell Master: | Velveteer has always had a knack for creating spells, in fact, he's actually written several of his own since he wishes to publish his very own spell book one day. He also hopes to one day take on a magic prodigy, which he can apprentice and teach the many ways of magic. Though he definitely tries his best to get over this fear, because of the fire in his home, it is highly unlikely that this is something he will ever get over.

| Nobility: | Velveteer will probably never actually admit it to anyone, but he is actually of Noble blood, and his mother, and her entire side of the family are actually all dukes and duchesses of Equestria -- which also explains his families wealth, and his ability to get his hooves are rare writings of magic. Vel was actually meant to take his Mother's place as Duke when she died, but instead gave the title to his older brother, Rocky Road, since he wished to remain without the difficulties and politics of Noble ruling.
| Brother From Another Mother: | Throughout University Vel only actually made one friend -- yes it's pathetic, I know -- a Pegasus by the name of Apollo's Chariet. The two share various similarities including interests and intelligence. They are quite close in friendship, and Vel is quite protective of him, even though Apollo is usually the one saving his ass. The two have also learned things from one another -- Vel likes telling him about magic, and Apollo likes showing him fighting tecniques and music -- and it's pretty safe to say that they're pretty much inseparable.

The redolent smell of old books hung in the air, enthralling the young stallion as he quietly paced through it, red eyes scanning for one in particular among the polished oak shelves. It felt like it had been ages since Vel had left the confines of his study, years since he'd walked along the relaxing isles of old writings and scriptures, to the outside world it would have only been a couple days, but to a Unicorn like Vel -- a Stallion who completely encased himself in his studies -- it had felt like forever.
"Now," He started, rich accented voice echoing through the empty Library, "Where are you hiding?"
As soon as his voice rang out his gaze honed in on a rather large book with a dark, leathery colour. Giving a smile of discovery, Vel trotted forward, allowing his horn to light up as he lifted the book from its seated place, looking down at the cover to make sure it was the correct novel he'd been seeking.
It was. "Ah yes," Vel nickered, clearly pleased with his findings, "The many spells, potions and incantations of Starswirl the Bearded. Exactly what I needed."
With that exclamation Vel turned and gleefully trotted out of the Library, using his magic to clear the stairs as he made his way to his room so he could begin his memorization of specific spells within the book.
It didn't take him long to reach his room, and he opened the door without hesitation, making his way over to a book stand near a large window, carefully setting the book down, and opening it to the desired page, the scent drifting towards him.
"Here we are..." He smiled, a note of determination in his voice as he adjusted the spectacles on his nose. "Now then, let's begin."

| Written Appearance: | Velveteer is a very daunting looking pony thanks to his Father, who was also quite large. His legs are very well muscled, and sturdy, equipped with beige Unicorn hooves. His form is magnificently chiseled, complete with perfectly aligned shoulders, and a very solid chest. Beautiful muscle definition -- save for his back legs -- is seen throughout his body, including his neck because of his genes, and the fact that he uses his front legs to move the majority of his lower body. His head is oval shaped, with a standard sized muzzle, and alert tufted ears. A uniquely horn sits upon his head with a slight ombré tip. Though his rump does have some muscular definition, the legs are nowhere near as defined as the front because of their lack of use due to his paralysis. They are also slightly under formed, appearing thinner than what would be normal. His tail is long and fluffy, style into a slightly curled wave. Colours of brown spread across the length of his flank, only interrupted by darker Appaloosa markings that stretch along his rump, and forelegs. Cinnamon, light brown, and darker brown streaks mark his cropped mane and styled forelocks, matching the same pattern of his tail. Vel's eyes are almond in shape, and are completed with stunning red irises, that appear to be a shining ember at a distance.

[Texture:] Vel's fur is actually quite soft and plush, including the hair in his mane and tail. When he was little, he used to use the fluffy cushioning of his tail as a pillow, and always makes sure that his fur is kept in a silky condition.
[Length:] The majority of the time the fur on his body is short, with the exception of the feathering along his legs -- the feathering on the back legs is kept cropped so it doesn't get stuck in the gears of his wheelchair -- however, during the winter, Vel's fur actually grows more fluffier to make up for the chilly weather. His mane and tail are a different story. Thanks to Vel's mother, his mane and tail both grow like weeds, resulting in him constantly needing to get it cut. His hair is especially thick, so he will usually kept his mane cropped, and his tail specially styled so it doesn't annoy him.

[Wheelchair:] Since his paralysis, Vel has had to use a wheelchair. It is heavier, but he has come to enjoy it, and has grown used to it so much so to where he often forgets he's paralyzed. With the help of his magic it isn't hard to take off and put back on, though the only times he usually doesn't wear it is when he is reading or going to bed -- away from the public eye. The chair was designed to specifically allow motion so Vel can walk, sit and lay down without difficulty, though he often only takes it off when he's relaxing.
[Spectacles:] His spectacles are pretty standard, and he rather enjoys the rounded glass, and material they're made of since it makes them comfortable to wear often. The prescription isn't very intense, but he wears them a lot anyways since it makes things easier for him.

| Written Appearance: | Vel's cutie mark is an open book with cream coloured pages, and indecifered writing. Seeping out of the folds within the pages is red magic -- the same colour of Vel's magic aura.

| Brief Description: | Velveteer actually got his cutie mark very late, so late in fact, that he was terrified that he would never actually discover his special talent, and would remain a blank flank forever. However, when he graduated high school and started going to university, he finally discovered what he was meant to do and a cutie mark of his own finally appeared on his flank.
| Trigger: | Vel didn't get his cutie mark until later because of the fact that he was always too wrapped up in his studies, and family workplace to actually stop and figure out what his destiny was. However, finally, in his first year of university, Vel discovered what it was that he was meant to do in his school's Library. He was in the magic section, trying to go over certain books for his studies, when the young Unicorn started having trouble finding a particular spell. Vel made the decision to use his special talent -- Animate -- and brought the book to life so he could ask it kindly to help him out so he could study. The Librarian saw this happen, and was amazed, offering Vel a part time job at the library so he could use his skill to help others. At that moment Vel realized that that was what he was meant to do -- use his magic and vast knowledge to help others -- and a cutie mark instantly appeared on his flank.

The injury can never be healed, and though he still has use of his tail, he has little to no feeling over the span of his back legs, rendering them useless. Besides this, Vel is also mildly nearsighted, so he is often seen with glasses to help with this.

Being a Nihilist doesn't really help his sexy man charm anyway, especially when he goes into long philosophical arguments about how life is actually pointless, or whatever point he's trying to prove. Despite this, however, Vel does eventually want to have a lasting relationship. Since Vel enjoys magic, he also would enjoy the company of someone who also hold this interest, or at least someone who doesn't mind him talking about it/ Tehy'd also have to deal with his huge family, and their crowded gatherings. Vel definitely wants someone who has a fiery spirit, someone who can keep things interesting, and has compelling intellect, even if their smarts aren't exactly book smart. Velveteer is very polite and proper when it comes to others. He is diligent when using proper manners and titles, and will often talk in a way that leaves others wondering if he is a noble of sorts. Velveteer has always addressed others he hasn't become acquaintances with as, "Mister", "Miss" and, "Lord","Lady" etc. Though he rarely expects the same curtesy to be given out to him. He respects others, and their possessions, and is very considerate of feelings, doing his best to avoid hurting others, or coming off as rude in any way, since he hates it when others does so. If anything, Velveteer would rather be looked upon as a proper gentleman, rather than an ill-mannered peasant.

To be put simply, Vel is the kind of Unicorn that could give somebody a cavity just by smiling at them too hard. The guy is almost always a bucket of sunshine and rainbows, to the point where it can actually become very annoying. It is very hard to get him down, and though he isn't obnoxious with his kindness like others can be, it may still be a bit much to those who aren't as enthusiastic with their emotions and goals as he is. Vel tries to treat everyone like a friend, and he very rarely comes across enemies. He is also quite sympathetic towards others, and does well in putting everyone else's needs before his own -- most of the time.

Since he was a little colt Vel has always had a way of protecting others. This was first shown when he leaped out of a window with his little sister to avoid dying in a fire, and forced his back to the ground so that he could protect her from the fall -- the very act that resulted in his paralysis. Though the costa of his heroics were tragic, the benefits were worth it in the end -- his sister and Vel himself are alive because of it --- and he has never regretted this decision. To this day he has continued risking his own wellbeing for the good of others. Once Velveteer becomes attached to someone, he will become extremely protective of them, and that someone will have a friend -- without a doubt -- for the rest of their life. He takes this kind of thing very seriously, as loyalty and respect are both highly important to him.

Vel has never really been a hot head. Despite the rough patch he went through after his paralysis, the majority of his bitchiness has cleared up quite well, and these days he's a pretty happy Unicorn. It's actually quite hard to piss him off, and those that do definitely deserve whatever they have coming to them. Despite this, Vel doesn't actually hold grudges since he sees them as pointless and a waste of energy that he could be spending on his studies. He is also freakishly open-minded, and it's a little concerning what he will accept as long as there's a valid argument behind it.

It's a little scary how well read this stallion is, and how much he can retain. It's even more freaky when he uses big words that everyone else doesn't understand, baffling them to the point where he looks like the idiot. Velveteer has got some serious brains, and with the amount of studying he does, it isn't exactly surprising either. He's always been a bookworm, and since he was a little colt he's taken his studies a little too seriously, if you ask me. He has a very high pursuit of the academics, and enjoys reading and learning about anything and everything. However, intelligence also has it's burdens, and in its own way it can make him pretty withdrawn at times, especially when he doesn't understand social cues like sarcasm, flirting and so on. Vel absolutely hates it when he hears of something he knows jack squat about, and will probably do that thing where he locks himself in his house and reads everything he can on it, before he realizes he's mortal and needs food to actually live, not knowledge.

Vel is a pretty straightforward pony, and the majority of the time he will get straight to the point of what he's trying to say, unless he feels the desirable need to carry on just so somebody knows exactly what his point is. Despite this, the majority of the time he's pretty frank, and when giving his opinion on something he can be very well stated, and straightforward for someone's own benefit. He doesn't usually like when he asks others a simple question and they launch into the huge story about whatever, about that one time they found themselves in Canterlot, after a rabid Griffin carried them there in a mushroom wagon; only to discover that Nightmare Moon had taken over the Kingdom, and was forcing her minions to listen to her horrible monologuing; when a turn of events, and a couple rainbows forced them to stop her with an enchanted toothpick, ending in some kind of dramatic feat, that never actually ends up answering the question. You know what I mean?

Since he was little Vel's been a pretty old fashioned guy. He prefers the simple delights of typewriters, and record players, and has completely disowned the idea of quills, since he thinks they're pointless and too modern for his own tastes. His old-fashioned attitude leads him to do cheesy things like open a carriage door for a lady, offer to pay for meals, walk someone home after going for a stroll...inviting someone on a stroll so he can walk them home, and so on. Despite this old-fashioned behaviour, Velveteer is still pretty open to the new ideas of the future, and though he keeps his old-fashioned sense, he has also adopted more modern things, and accepted the fact that the world is bound to change. However, he will never EVER accept the fact that quills are a thing. That's just going too far with the whole accepting gig.

It honestly doesn't matter how small, or seemingly pointless it is, if he decides he's going to do it, then he is bloody well going to do it. This is also quite good for helping others, since once he's agreed to something he'll keep his word and do it. Vel has always been like this, it actually gives him anxiety whenever something is left undone, and he refuses to actually go to bed and end his day unless every single task he planned to do is done. It can be a little odd that he feels so determined to do simple tasks all the time, but who can argue when it makes the guy happy, and keeps somepony from having to be a responsible adult and do it themselves, am I right?

Vel is very highly academic, and though with great power, comes great responsibility, there's also the times when he uses that power for irresponsibility, and ends up coming off as a snobby little know-it-all -- and nobody likes that. Despite his usually kind nature, Vel is mortal, and he too is prone to the everyday weaknesses of mortality, one of them being the repulsive behaviours of the know-it-all. Though he generally means no harm by it, sometimes when he's sharing his knowledge with others, or correcting them on something they say, he can come off sounding as if he thinks he's better than everyone, or as if he thinks everyone is incompetent, which is rarely the case. Sometime's his ego is just a little too big for his mouth, and everything just sort of spills out and creates a huge mess. Besides, in his mind Vel is guiding them, so that they don't keep sounding like an idiot all the time. That way they sound smarter, and he -- and others -- don't have to constantly listen to their inaccurate intellect. It's a public service.

Since he plans his day-to-day activities to the second, it is stressful for Vel when something doesn't get done, or isn't completed on schedule. If he has something planned with someone else, it can easily irritate him when that person isn't on time, or doesn't even show up. If they have a reasonable excuse then he can easily forgive them, otherwise he grows angry, and will either leave and continue with the rest of his plans, or try to seek them out and give them a peace of his mind -- which is often noticed by the public because he tends to cause a scene. He literally looks like a steaming rutabaga, it's hilarious -- Vel just simply hates waiting. He likes it when things flow smoothly and on schedule, and is easily stressed out by ripples in his plans.

With half a wagon hanging off this guys ass 24/7 it's shouldn't be a surprise when he can't fit through a doorway, or has trouble performing as perfectly as everyone else. He wasn't exactly the smoothest of colt's when he was younger, but after his paralysis it became a total disaster. Now, this doesn't mean that he trips over everything, or spills every glass he gets, or breaks everything he touches all the time -- that's absurd. It's just most of the time -- and mostly it's because of the awkward, heavy, wagon thing. Though he's grown used to his wheelchair to the point where he sometimes forgets it's there, he still forgets it's there, causing him to crash into things, knock things over, or forget that he can't actually be the next Seabiscuit, because Seabiscuit had four legs, not two.

Vel likes following his daily routine in a fashioned, and mostly predicatable, pattern. He enjoys when things run smoothly, and has a knack for planning out everything in his day. Free time stresses him out since he usually won't know what to do with it, so he prefers to fill up, and use his time wisely, so that he doesn't waste any of it. Though this chronic planning and organization is usually good in most cases, Vel can sometimes over plan, meaning that when something more important comes up, he gets seriously stressed since he has no time for it, forcing him to completely replay his entire day just to make something else fit. This is very bad for the harmonic flow he tends to live in, and an upset is basically like nuking that flow with a massive disaster blaster.

[Creation:] With the help of his magic Vel can create certain objects out of thin air. The majority of the time this is simply the creation of things ponies can eat or drink, or small inanimate objects like vases and paper. However, Vel also has the ability to create larger things as well, though this tends to tire him out so he usually chooses to avoid it. Despite the various skills this power possesses Vel cannot create sustained life -- with the exception of plants.
[ Animation: ] Though Vel cannot create life, he can mimic it, giving animation to otherwise inanimate objects, and even give them the ability of speech so he can talk to them. Though this only lasts while the spell is active, it allows Vel to do things like make a typewriter write a letter for him by simply asking it to do so, or have a pair of mits bake a batch of cupcakes, and so on. This skill has been quite useful throughout his life, and is a very cherished one. Depending on what he is animating, it can take quite a lot of concentration so he may takes certain measures to pace himself.

| Watch Your Grammar: | Velveteer is a very literate pony, he doesn't use short cuts like, "They're, It's, etc", and prefers to structure his sentences in a very academic way, often using big words, and sometimes getting a little carried away when making a point. Because of this, whenever someone uses bad grammar, he will correct them, even if they're in the middle of a sentence. He also despises both the misspelling and mispronounciation of words -- it drives him nuts -- and makes him want to slap the illiteracy out of the idiots -- Hey! Maybe there's a spell for that.
| Not A Toy: | Whenever Velveteer gets bored, or feels the need to fidget, he will power up his horn and play with whatever he can find, whether it be a tooth pick or a fork. This can sometimes become quite distracting when he does this during a conversation, but it is simply a general thing that he does, and he usually means no disrespect by it.
| Typewriter: | Probably the weirdest of his habits is the fact that Velveteer has a very strong hate of quills. Who even knows why, he just finds them stupid, and only uses them if he has to scribble something down quickly -- though he'd probably prefer to write it in mud, rather than pick up one of those dreadful objects. Vel prefers to use a typewriter, whether it's for making a plan for his day, writing out a spell, or letter. He loves his typewriter and will never be without it -- literally. Since Vel has unicorn magic -- and will do anything to avoid the mundane use of quills -- he wrote a spell that allows him to shrink inanimate objects, and regularly casts the spell on his typewriter so that he can constantly carry it around with him -- should he need it. It's sad, but at the same time it's pretty genius, so very few know how to properly react.
| Factual Inaccuracies: | What annoys Velveteer more than anything -- yes, even more than the existence of quills -- is when other ponies commit the crime of factual inaccuracies. Velveteer's worst nightmare is when -- Celestia forbid -- someone opens their mouth and has absolutely no goddamn idea what the heck they're talking about. It is the mother of all crimes, and he doesn't care who the pony is, if he catches someone doing it he will interrupt them -- in a horrified rage -- and correct every single factual inaccuracy that they dared utter, just so that he never has to hear them speak of such vile things ever again.
| Planned Out: | Velveteer is a dorky little child, and he honest to Celestia, plans out every minute of his day before he does anything. He enjoys living his life in a certain flow, and whenever the flow of his routine is rippled it completely knocks him off balance, and he freaks out. If he has free time he plans it out, if he wants to go somewhere he plans it out, and so on. This gives him a sense of security, since he knows what he's doing every day, but at the same time it's a more negative quirk since it will throw him into disarray if he has to rearrange his entire day should anything more important come up.

That's right, he is one of the few that can do so, and has struck envy in the hearts of those too uncool to have this amazing, yet juvenile, and entirely unless talent! What's that you say?! How dare thou speaketh so poorly! The great and powerful Velveteer would never dream of using his all powerful magic to make his tongue longer so that he could perform this incredible trick! Such accusations! How could you even think such a thing?
| Secluded Studies: | Another one of Vel's talents is the fact that he has mastered the skills of being a bookworm. This buff baby is a wizard at completely shutting out the world and engulfing himself in his studies. What's great about this skill is that he is like a sponge when it comes to knowledge Vel retains the majority of what he reads, making this actually a good thing. What's even more fascinating though is the incredible ability to disappear into his personal study for days at a time! Only to emerge into the land of the living once more in order to get some more book -- or when he actually stops and realizes his body needs to eat in order to survive.
| Chef Velveteer: | Because of his Father, Coffee Bean, Velveteer is very gifted at baking and cooking, and actually really enjoys doing it -- when he isn't being a lazy little turd and using his Creation spell to pop in magical food, from whatever dimension he even pulls that stuff out of. He says it all tastes the same, but maybe it isn't wise to eat magically generated food when he has no idea where it comes from.
| Spell Master: | Velveteer has always had a knack for creating spells, in fact, he's actually written several of his own since he wishes to publish his very own spell book one day. He also hopes to one day take on a magic prodigy, which he can apprentice and teach the many ways of magic. The spells he's created so far he keeps to himself, hiding them from the public eye until he compiles enough of them to publish. So for now this talent is mostly kept unknown.
| Wizard Of Dappleton: | Vel isn't just good at writing spells, he is also incredible at performing them too, and thanks to his Family's wealth and status, he is very well supply with both rare and common readings of magic. Since he was little he's been using and studying magic, and started training under a skilled mentor at the age of three after the paralysis of his back legs. Because of this Velveteer is very good at magic and actually wishes to become an Alicorn one day since he had a very deep love for their powerful magic.

| Arsonphobia: | Because of the events of his past, it probably doesn't come as a surprise that Vel is terrified of fire. While he can handle small areas of flame, like candles, anything bigger completely freaks him out and will cause him to either lose his shit and start trying to douse the flames, or it will scare him into freezing up completely in front of the flames. Though he definitely tries his best to get over this fear, because of the fire in his home, it is highly unlikely that this is something he will ever get over.

| Nobility: | Velveteer will probably never actually admit it to anyone, but he is actually of Noble blood, and his mother, and her entire side of the family are actually all dukes and duchesses of Equestria -- which also explains his families wealth, and his ability to get his hooves are rare writings of magic. Vel was actually meant to take his Mother's place as Duke when she died, but instead gave the title to his older brother, Rocky Road, since he wished to remain without the difficulties and politics of Noble ruling.
| Brother From Another Mother: | Throughout University Vel only actually made one friend -- yes it's pathetic, I know -- a Pegasus by the name of Apollo's Chariet. The two share various similarities including interests and intelligence. They are quite close in friendship, and Vel is quite protective of him, even though Apollo is usually the one saving his ass. The two have also learned things from one another -- Vel likes telling him about magic, and Apollo likes showing him fighting tecniques and music -- and it's pretty safe to say that they're pretty much inseparable.

The redolent smell of old books hung in the air, enthralling the young stallion as he quietly paced through it, red eyes scanning for one in particular among the polished oak shelves. It felt like it had been ages since Vel had left the confines of his study, years since he'd walked along the relaxing isles of old writings and scriptures, to the outside world it would have only been a couple days, but to a Unicorn like Vel -- a Stallion who completely encased himself in his studies -- it had felt like forever.
"Now," He started, rich accented voice echoing through the empty Library, "Where are you hiding?"
As soon as his voice rang out his gaze honed in on a rather large book with a dark, leathery colour. Giving a smile of discovery, Vel trotted forward, allowing his horn to light up as he lifted the book from its seated place, looking down at the cover to make sure it was the correct novel he'd been seeking.
It was. "Ah yes," Vel nickered, clearly pleased with his findings, "The many spells, potions and incantations of Starswirl the Bearded. Exactly what I needed."
With that exclamation Vel turned and gleefully trotted out of the Library, using his magic to clear the stairs as he made his way to his room so he could begin his memorization of specific spells within the book.
It didn't take him long to reach his room, and he opened the door without hesitation, making his way over to a book stand near a large window, carefully setting the book down, and opening it to the desired page, the scent drifting towards him.
"Here we are..." He smiled, a note of determination in his voice as he adjusted the spectacles on his nose. "Now then, let's begin."
