Description
Taking a break from commissions to draw one of my favourite characters! Ever since I saw this gorgeous Gemsbock called Iben by Aureath I've been wanting to draw some fanart but haven't had the chance. I wish I could have drawn a full image but unfortunately I've got a lot on at the moment.
I adore his mean attitude and beautiful character design! I really must get my own horned/antlered character happening. There's not enough appreciation for our herbivores.
Apologies for the design liberties taken and the glaring anatomical issues. I know they are there, so please be nice!
This was a practice/just for fun image- took about 3 hours from start to finish! Which is extremely short for me...I usually take upwards of a few days! 
And I have no idea where he would carry those swords!!

Lizzy squealed about this in every place she could. With good reason, Jed' gal. You do fantastic art and this is no exception. I dig the pose -- and damn you for being able to draw such gorgeous male figures! Gah. That torso. -envy-
But never the less, this is AWESOME and Liz is right.. Iben looks great with the artistic liberations you took - like with the mane.
But none the less. Awesome work hon!

I'm a close friend of aureaths, she squelled about an amazing peice of Fan art and of corse I had to come see. I LOOVE this. Amazing, I'm an uber big fan of Iben and get groutchy when hes not done justice and this peice is just soooo fantastic. A+ my dear A+

Well. Now that I'm done almost squealing myself into a coma, this looks FANTASTIC! Oh my god, I almost never get fanart, especially not of Iben, so I was surprised and thrilled by your note, but then I get to the image and see THIS? Amazing!! Gah, you did SUCH a beautiful job with him, I adore the way you drew his face, it's very true to the species, and the crazy, wild mane framing it turned out so nice! I may have to experiment with making it longer now, because I quite like the look of that.
Auhn, and the SCARS. They are so realistic and jagged and awesome and I lovelovelove the musculature you have going on, especially in his arms and those HANDS. I am seriously loving on all the little details, too. Like the swords (bloodstains, ee!) and the eyes. They're exactly how I imagined them! Bluish-white and not-quite-opaque. Even the simple colors of the background compliment him so well.
And there is some serious lag going on with the comment box, so I shall cut my RAVING short (lucky you! XD) but yes. Omg. I adore you. Thank you so much for making him so SEXEH. I save this forever now 8D Yee!

*blushes* Aww....you are too kind! It was totally my pleasure to draw this guy up! I really love Gemsbok and Oryx's anyway and he's just a fantastically designed character I couldn't resist!
I always imagined him with a longer mane for some reason so I took some artistic liberties there. Glad you liked it too! The best reward is the creator's approval so I'm over the moon.

I'm thinking maybe a collection of bovidae characters...if I get the time. Most probably will have a Kudu, maybe something tank like a Bison or water buffalo, and I really dig Moose as well. Dik Dik's are so adorable...the smallest antelope yes? I remember the Attenborough doco segment on them.
On a slightly weird note, I pretend to be a moose with my niece, it's so cute!!
