Rushed art. Don't sass me. At least it's here.
Oh, yes, and just in case it's not absolutely obvious to you by now, Sam has no idea about what he's talking about. If you actually thought he was serious and you did not notice the landsharks in the background as a normality, then I did not do my job.
Dialogue by ~CartoonistWill ! Give him the props!
And remember!

Hey, Annie! Just wanted to let you know I've been posting your Sam and Max pages over at the TellTale Games' Sam and Max fan art forums (I hope you don't mind) and pointing them back to you and AGENCY (free advertising, yay! lawls), both here and the Drunk Duck hosting. You've got some nice comments including but not limited to:
CRFH - "I also like the shark comic. Keep it coming! "
ShyGuy - "Also the artist of the Agency comic has a very dark and gritty style that I just can't get enough of. Sam and Max look brilliant in it."

By the way, Annie, this is completely random, but ... for some reason I wanted to request a background cameo of Brandy and Mr. Whiskers at some point. I guess it's because those are the OTHER dog and rabbity-thing duo in the anthro-cartoon world.

Oh, and by the way? You got me to love these two to bits. I had no idea that such a quotable dog-man-thing and his freaky little lagomorph would be so violently and grotesquely cute/marketable.

Here's something I randomly thought to show you: [link]
It's the TV Show-esque intro to Sam and Max video game Season 3 and some gamplay of the third episode in that season. Be forewarned, the game play afterwards is a little spoilerific if you plan on playing the games. But episode 3 is one of my all time favorites! It's extremely heavy on the black-and-white Noir theme and features Sam rambling on in Noir mode.

Oh, no! I've corrupted an innocent! lawls
Yeah, I know, right?! Fans have been saying that they're marketable, trying to get them to create plush toys, but so far none have been made, lol. But actions figures I hear have, but I haven't seen but two and one is a statue and the other are creepy Hello Kitty-esque things. Sadly, only the Helly Kitty-esque chibi "Symbiote" Sam and Max toys are still for sale at TellTale Games' website. Anyway... Oops, I rambled off topic for a bit.

Haha, but remember that the drunkduck forum I made had a spot for suggesting cameos for future crowd scenes? That's what I'm talking about. In fact, if I recall correctly, you posted there suggesting Sam and Max.

So, what does everyone think of the dialogue on this page? I hope I did well. I know Annie loved the fact she could put in the shark character from Spongebob, so I'm glad. Otherwise, not my favorite dialogue I wrote for this. I wasn't as in love with it as I was the original dialogue I wrote (I was confused and thought Rufus was the mole rat from Kim Possible - that was a VERY different and hilarious first draft of this script's dialogue on this page, by the way). I LOVE Max's dialogue in the fifth panel, though. Definitely a highlight for me.
Annie's artwork does great wonders for my script this page! Loving the way Sam looks in panel 6. And that nerdy shark from Spongebob - awesome!

Just as the Sam and Max Wikipedia page claims:
"Sam possesses near encyclopedic amounts of knowledge, particularly on obscure topics, and is prone to long-winded sentences filled with elaborate terminology. Although he is always keen to display this informationβregardless of its accuracyβSam can be capable of total ignorance towards more practical matters"

No sassing intended at all. I love Sam monologuing about the impossibility of landsharks when there are 2 of them right behind him doing (what appears to be) an autopsy.
The lines could have been a bit more defined, but aside from that I can barely tell you rushed. Kudos!

CartoonistWill In reply to Thespurgin [2011-06-28 08:48:32 +0000 UTC]
Right. I wasn't nearly as inspired when I wrote these lines. I originally wrote a draft that involved them talking over the body of Rufus, the mole rat from Kim Possible. It was at this point Annie reminded me Rufus was the land shark from Beyond Good and Evil, lol. I had completely forgotten what that shark's name was! Rewrites can be a killer sometimes.

Tell me about it. I'm rewriting an old Sonic fanfiction story of mine and it's painful to go through and change so much. Names, adding several paragraphs... etc.

Yeah. Forced writing is the worst. It feels wrong. Like grinding your teeth together. Without that inspiration, a writer just feels that something about his writing just isn't quite right.

Max is also aware that not only do Landsharks exist, the the magical ponies do too.
His cousin lives with some. Nice digs, even if the landlord's kinda overbearing.

And as per usual, Max has it right on the money and both of them blow it off. So silly.

Yes and no. Some of the dialogue is inspired by or taken straight out of the Sam and Max comics (panel 1's dialogue is inspired by a conversation from "Bad Day on the Moon" while panel 2's dialogue is taken straight out of a sketch from an otherwise unpublished Sam and Max comic seen so far only in an out-of-print Steven Purcell sketch book), and panel 6's dialogue is something Sam says constantly through out all Sam and Max media. It's like his catchphrase. And Annie wrote in that one of the sharks in the background is a shark from Spongebob. Otherwise, yes, the rest is mine. lol
