Description I don't like talking politics.

Here's a million messy brushes to speak for me.

CLARIFICATION: I think I'm entitled to express my feelings through art. This picture isn't showing that I think BP should be crucified; it's displaying my deep sadness for the beautiful creatures and reefs that are paying the price for their unfortunate mistake.

Don't like polotics? It's for a good reason!

That says it all. (Although I personally would like to see some of the other characters in it as well.)

Did you see that "60 Minutes" special where they interviewed the computer technician who survived the explosion? And all he said about how all the higher-ups repeatedly told them to ignore broken safety devices and measures, to skip important steps and to drill way too fast?
I tell you, ALL those people who said to ignore all that need to be flown out into the middle of that slick... and left there. They can try and swim back!

I'm pretty sure the Bikini Atoll still has some problems from the Atom Bomb tests that were held there.

I actually think that's what gave rise to the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom in the first place.

Surprisingly powerful stuff for something spongebob-themed.

Surprisingly powerful stuff period, in fact.

Politics suck by their very nature. Cleaning up the spill, on the other hand, is as apolitical as it gets... or should be. Unfortunately... meh. Everyone has a horse to sell.

But isn't Bikini Bottom in the Pacific, and doesn't oil float above the water? (Not to mention being flippin' orange in water. Seriously, what's up with that?)

Regardless, I admit that I haven't really paid that much attention to the oil spill, since the whole thing could basically be summed up as such, "Human technology fails in one of the most hostile environments around, and then a bunch of incompetents try and clean up the mess."

Oh boy, here we go with the oil spill.

In my professional opinion, oil spills are not a big of a deal. At least a half of all oil spills are directed from natural causes. In otherwords, and I quote from Glenn Beck "Mother Earth has some seriously overactive pores."

BP is not to be bashed or be villianized for the oil spill, but paying dues for a mistake is needed. Yet making Oil Spills (ps Oil floats not sinks, thereby not directly affecting he wildlife below) something of a tragedy seems avant-garde in a professional manner. For out of chaos comes order.

That said, nice art piece.

JediAnnSolo In reply to WillCruse [2010-06-26 17:59:52 +0000 UTC]

You may be correct about BP and how it shouldn't be villainized, but you cannot dare tell me that "oil spills are not that bad"-- especially if we're talking about this particular spill. This isn't an "ordinary" oil spill. Mother Nature didn't pop a pimple and had a tiny bit of pus come out. This is a MAN-MADE blunder that is spewing millions upon millions of gallons of oil into the ocean. It's contaminating and KILLING undersea wildlife EVERY DAY and poisoning birds and fish. Commercial fishing, beaches and preserves will be affected for DECADES because of this. Plankton (which produces a high amount of this earth's oxygen) is dying and if this spill keeps on spreading, it will bring absolute chaos for living beings everywhere.

I think I'm entitled to express my feelings through art-- even if it's fanart. This picture isn't showing that I think BP should be crucified; it's displaying my deep sadness for the beautiful creatures and reefs that are paying the price for their unfortunate mistake.

That said, maybe you didn't mean to imply what I read in your comment, so please be aware to choose your words carefully.

And thanks for the compliment. I rather like this piece.

WillCruse In reply to JediAnnSolo [2010-06-26 19:37:54 +0000 UTC]

Umm, didn't I said a half of oil spills are cause naturally, including BIG oil spills?

Look I know your conserns for the environment but personally I don't think life will be affected much. Maybe in that precise area, but not on a global scale. Plus, as I said before, out of chaos comes order. In otherwords, life will return to the areas affected.

My comments are kinda controversial to translate but what I'm saying is this. Oil spills, no big deal to me, love the art, keep working on Agency.

That said, your welcome.

Head-ZonkStudios In reply to WillCruse [2010-06-26 03:35:43 +0000 UTC]

You stated that BP doesn't deserve to be bashed and that many oil spills happen naturally. That is true about how nature can be the cause of disasters like this. But in this case it is unarguably BP's fault. The "60 Minutes" episode that explained all what happened can be seen here [link] .
BP doesn't deserve to be bashed, they deserve to be lynched! Not for the spill but for the lost lives of the people aboard the rig, alone! The spill and all its problems plus the disruption of thousands of peoples livelihoods only compounds their guilt!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WillCruse In reply to Head-ZonkStudios [2010-06-26 03:40:23 +0000 UTC]

BP is British, why lynch em when England's Economy depends on their existance. Ok, a few lives were lost, but BP wasn't all to blame. Our Government was overlooking what BP was doing, which could have led to this. Why lynch BP when the US Bureaucracy had its hands red as well?

Seriously, get real.

Head-ZonkStudios In reply to WillCruse [2010-06-26 03:53:57 +0000 UTC]

AND the government shouldn't have to watch them like that! No one in charge of anything should be stupid enough to do the things they did!
