Description
Just to show people that I am, surprisingly enough, still alive and drawing. The irony in this particular picture is that I'm posting some sketches of happy, healthy, fully-functional hands. Hands quite unlike my own.
Whee.
Getting another doctor's appointment tomorrow to figure out exactly what is wrong with my wrist and what I can do about it... but it's beginning to look like it'll be bye-bye to my miscellaneous hand-related activities for a while. I can barely play my bass anymore, and it's starting to hurt constantly instead of just when I strain it. I'm more than a little bit worried.
Anyway, here's some sketches to show y'all that I'm still alive. May the Schwartz be with you and such.

Thanks for the drawing, I'm experienced in drawing hands but some "posses" just don't want to be well drown.
Just a tiny mini question, could you do some other drawing without the purple circles? They don't work for me, I just draw the outlines

The circles are just part of my structure practice -- I have another drawing here: [link] in which the circles are fainter, and another one here: [link] which illustrates the whole process, and then removes the circles at the end.
And as a side note: Not that I'm trying to disprove your "they don't work for me" statement, but just drawing the outlines first off tends to make things very static. The purpose of my undersketches is to give them lifelike proportions and shading. Give it a shot sometime, after you've looked at the one that shows the whole process. The results might surprise you.

I love seeing how people draw their understructure! This is a great method. I love that you use elipses to form the palm of the hand instead of a big fat rectangle like all those "how to draw" books XD also glad your fingers aren't just those cylindrical sausages either! This is a much more organic method that I think turned out really successful!

Yeah, I've always hated how the drawing books block things out so roughly. I've got a huge pile of my own methods for drawing that I plan on doing tutorials for. I dunno what order I should do them in, but ah well. They'll be up soonish.

Nope! Just looking at the surfaces of my own hands.

Great job! I can appreciate this because I suck at hands - and so I don't even want to try XD

Best thing in the universe is this:

First thing I suggest doing is taking some simple hand poses cand just tracing over them, but DO NOT TRACE THE OUTLINE. Just the bubbles that form individual bulges in the hand, like the purple lines in my picture. Then draw the outlines over that without tracing.
Try to keep the same amount of bubbles in the same places. This'll help you get the hang of drawing them freehand.

Haha, thats an interesting site. Kinda like model viewer. It will be awesome to work with if I ever feel like using referencing, for sure. As of now, I don't see me doing it lol I'm getting better with hands every time I try to I'm sure I'll get it someday while still being able to maintain my laziness
Practice like that would only make me bored and uninspired, I think.
Thanks! (boy do I make excuses hee!)
