Originally the name for mini-people tokens in a boardgame, has come to mean any type of game token made from a 2D image and stretched into 3D for gameplay.
I should add this name was largely descriptive of wooden tokens, but with 3D printing and laser-cut acrylic tokens, the material no longer matters, so long as they look to be in the style.
