I have a hard time to find out if I do or if I don't like this photo. It is not a beautiful flower or piece of sky or a sexy girl. Not so obvious to react at first sight.
From the technical side: good moment to take the picture (Sunset or rise) showing another colors, top of the picture is grey, bottom is green. The railroad splits bottom part in 2 pièces, nothing on the left handside, a "ghost train" on the other side obviously not on the railroad track. The city is present but far away and in the fog. Tones are dark. Nice Film grain e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Dark tones, foggy atmosphere, old rusty train, no movement, no living person (just a small bird)... the story here is sad, it is the end of something. If the sun would set, maybe it could be the end of a day and maybe hope for a better tomorrow. If the sun would rise it would be even Worth since even a new day would bring sadness.
So, this photo is "talking to me", tells something. I like it!

Thank you Mark, for taking the time to give your thoughts on this one. Truth be told, I took this from a moving train probably ten years ago... It was a hazy evening which only augmented the somewhat bleak feel that is presented with the abandoned train. The mood of the pic is befitting my area these days though. Dark and sad, but with each new day there is hope.

From the first time i saw it i knew it was my beloved country!Starting with the abandoned traind and the pylons that are specific to my country and ending with the nature that can be seen around
Great shot Jeff!

Thanks! I honestly cannot wait until I can get back to Romania. Now that I have a dslr, I imagine my camera will be attached to my face permanently while there.

I suggest you to buy a very large lenses because you'll find a lot of wildlife here
Try to buy a 400mm or 500mm lens.Or if you think those are too expensive, try to buy a 300mm and a 2x teleconverter to make it 600mm and that should do the trick. But i gotta tell you that when you shoot with the teleconverter set on 2x,you will loose 2eV steps(that means that if you shoot with the apperture set on f/4,you'll actually gain 2 more points,so it will be an aperture of f/6.0)

Indeed, I do already have a 75-300mm for my Canon, and a 300mm Vivitar Prime for my old Mamiya/Sekor (which also has a 2x tele-converter)
Unfortunately, for my digital, the 75-300 is not the fastest lens, and doesn't have the greatest of optics. So, I have to be sure I have enough light to make my shots usable. If I had a better camera, I'd be able to use a higher ISO, but the 1100D gets too grainy above 800ISO to make good detailed nature shots. I do what I can with it though.
Thank you for taking the time to give some friendly advice!
