Hey potheads, and welcome back to Classics of Crap! This week's awesomely bad movie is the infamous 1936 anti-pot propaganda film, Reefer Madness, aka. Tell Your Children. Possibly the most well known of all the "educational" films of the 30's, Reefer Madness depicts several men and women trying pot for the first time. Like most people's first puff of the green stuff, nothing happens. Oh wait, I'm sorry. No, what I meant to say was that the tiniest bit of Mary Jane makes these people go absolute batshit crazy. Killing, molesting, hooking, more killing, gambling, even more killing and finally throwing themselves out of buildings. Cause, you know, pot makes you do that. Reefer Madness has gotten a fervent cult following over the years for its completely ludicrous depiction of smoking pot. In fact, in 2005 they actually made a musical spoof of it starring Kristen Bell and Neve Campbell. It's good, but no where near as entertaining as the real thing. But have you seen the original it's spoofing? It's crazy stupid old propaganda, claiming that if you smoke weed once, you will basically go crazy and kill everyone around you. :S

Man, I really appreciate you doing this series. I do enjoy it, even if the covered films are... of questionable quality.
Just one middling question, though: Would you ever consider watching those Seltzer and Friedberg films like "Scary movie" or "Date movie"?

I'm glad you are enjoying CoC, but there is unfortunately no chance of doing anything with the "Movie-Movie" guys. I really despise them and they are excluded on this list for one reason. They are trying to be bad.
Every truly awesome bad movie at least, at it's heart is trying to be good. Yes, even Manos. It's when the noblest of intentions fail, for one reason or another, it can achieve awesome crappitude. On the other hand, Friedberg and Seltzer aim low and hit low. I give them no respect.

Well, THAT I understand. I know that films can get so bad, they become cheesily good... but a film can only be so crappy until it's just flatout horrible. Sorry for the suggestion. (On the bright side, at least I didn't suggest A Serbian Film... )

No, no. I appreciate your suggestion, really! I just have my own very weird set of criteria for the kind of movies I think are "so bad they're good". Keep on suggesting! As for a serbian film, from what I've heard, I think I'll pass.

Naw, I define Classics of Crap as being guilty pleasure, so bad they're amazing type movies. Some people may not agree with all my choices, but I'm kind of doing all my favorite bad movies. There are lots more to come!

Well, I'm more than glad to hear THAT! To be honest, you cover a film in a few precious seconds while guys like the Nostalgia Critic take ten-to-twenty MINUTES to take a few quick shots at a flick.

Yeah, I like Nostalgia Critic, and other bad movie blogs, like the Agony Booth, but honestly, they are so long, they kind of wear me out. Keep it short and sweet, I say.
