Hi guys! I'm starting a new feature on my blog called Classics of Crap, where I draw some of my favorite "so bad, they're good" movies. Kicking off this event is Troll 2, a movie I discovered one fateful night flipping around basic cable stations in the early 90's. I had seen and enjoyed the first Troll a few years earlier, so I figured, why not. After sitting through the whole thing, waiting for an actual troll to show up (Spoiler alert: they never do), I logged this one away as just another disappointing experience. After moving to LA, I met one of my best friends, Joseph, and he told me of a similar experience. As we watched it again, we discovered out opinion had completely changed. Suddenly, Troll 2 became a unintentionally hilarious comedy. Apparently, some other people thought so too. The "Oh my godddd" clip has been viewed on YouTube millions of times, and Troll 2 still plays at midnight screenings all over the country. So, remember kids, Nilbog is Goblin backwards, and remember to eat the ice cream. It's nice and creamy!Related content

You left out the fly on that guy's forehead. Β When he's screaming "Oh my GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD" there's a fly right there in the shot and on his forehead. Β Some jokers on youtube think the fly deserves an Emmy. Β I mean seriously, how bad does your acting have to be to attract flies? Β

Which scene in the film had you rolling around laughing mine was the epic cheezy bar/club scene lol damn that had me crying laughing

Troll 1 was actually very good. The sequel had nothing to do with it.

I LOVE Troll 1. Scared the crap out of me as a kid. I guess the makers of troll 2 figured they could sell a few more tapes if they tricked people into thinking it was related. :S

That's correct. It was clearly a hasty studio revision. The old VHS box art features a kid and monster that weren't even seen in the movie. Very dodgy.

I'm trying to figure out how it even begins to be a sequel to the original. The original being more fantasy and this movie being more cheesy B-horror.
Both are enjoyable in their own way for sure, though.

I approve heartily of this project. Also, apparently Troll 2 was once the lowest rated film on IMDB, and widely regarded as the worst movie ever made. They even made a documentary about it called "The Best Worst Movie".
I would suggest you watch The Wild Wild World of Batwoman. I have never seen a more incoherent and completely-on-crack-film. From what I have seen of Troll 2, Batwoman is like its ditsy, PG-rated little sister.

I've seen Best Worst movie, it's great. As far as Wild World of Batwoman, it sounds really familiar. Did MST3K do a riff on it? I think I might have seen it a few years ago. Yeah, MST3K totally did a Batwoman episode. IMDB has a pretty good summation of the plot: Batwoman and her sidekicks fight crime and dance.
It's hard to think of anything more notoriously bad than The Room, man. I mean, that's bad and funny. There's plenty of stuff that's just plain bad, after all. >_<

Yeah, finding those perfect movies that are equally bad and funny are tricky. I'm doing Showgirls next, which fits the bill perfectly.

Troll 1 is actually a pretty good horror movie for kids. Troll 2 is a cinematic abomination. Watch at your own risk. Youtube clips if you don't believe me.
